Why does the media always end their reports about mass shootings with "we are awaiting a response from the NRA"?

Even though none of these fools are NRA members. I notice how they always have the correspondent/anchor say "the NRA has not made a statement regarding today's events but we are awaiting their response and will have that covered for you when they do respond." Why does the NRA have to respond to Adam Lanza or James Holmes or isla vista guy's actions?

They are commercial stations, just like all the rest. They are giving the NRA a chance for a free commercial. All they have to do is come on the show and expound on how much people need to panic and BUY MORE GUNS because of the tragedy.

They're trying to frame a two-sided controversy. It's easy to beat up on the NRA, less so the great majority of Americans who support the civilian ownership of firearms. It fits their political agenda without their having to delve into a complex subject, and without their even having to admit that they have an agenda.

The Santa Barbara killer stabbed and slashed to death his first three victims, and there's no National Knife Association, or they'd be going there, too, I suppose.

Because the press want a quote from someone pro-gun. So NRA is always asked and all they need to say is users need to be reasonable.

The NRA nor guns has anything to do with what happened. A mentally ill liberal killed six people and took his own life. How he did it is irrelevant. The killer's primary weapon was a knife that he used to kill his three roommates with.

Why call the Santa Barbara case a "mass shooting," when the killer used a very BIG KNIFE to kill at least two of his victims? This is a mass KILLING, not that the lefty media would tell you as much
