In Georgia the GOP passed a voter ID law just before the 2008 presidential election. The result was a big spike in Democrat votes. Why? Because public aid groups canvassed Georgia with "get out the vote" campaigns aimed at low income residents. They took people to get a driver's license, they helped them register, and and they got them to polling stations on election day.

Trying to keep dead people from voting is NOT voter suppression. Trying to keep non-citizens from voting is NOT voter suppression. Trying to keep 5 year old illegal immigrant children from voting is NOT voter suppression. Trying to keep convicted felons---who have LOST their right to vote---is NOT voter suppression. WHEN will Liberals admit the OBVIOUS? Liberals do NOT want strict accountability for voters---at the polls. Their excuses reek higher than Heaven. Excuse me, I forgot-----Liberals don't believe in God.

I think you are delusional. I gag when I see liberals going overboard in trying to knock conservatives. All the conservatives I know have photo IDs.

Yes, I can deny they are doing this, and you still have not explained how Obama got 102% of the vote of registered voters in one district.

It backfired in 2012 as African American turnout increased.

I've never understood how asking for ID is voter right suppression? I've had to do this before. Seems like a logical thing to do to help stop voter fraud, or non citizens from voting.

I do not think the Voter ID law is really suppression.

You mean like showing a drivers license which most of us already have?

That is what we use in my state as the license does have your address on it and it is not legal to have more than one.

There are no 'voting rights suppression laws' and merely calling them that does not make it so.

The ONLY way they can be suppressing the right to vote is if YOU believe certain people are:

1. Too stupid to have/obtain an ID

2. Need 30 days of early voting instead of 7

Last I checked, people don't need to travel across mountain ranges on horseback to vote. So, 7 days should be plenty

Indiana has the voter ID law since 2008. More minorities vote now than ever before. You should read some accurate information instead of spreading stupid assumptions. Why do you seem to believe minorities who are legal citizens would have any more trouble getting an ID than whites? I really don't get it.

Once more are the liberals trying to deflect attention away from the real issue. First, they demonstrate their ignorance by saying this is an issue of "voting rights." WRONG!!!! Our Constitution says not one word about a right to vote (look it up).

Second, no one.... not one person.... is trying to suppress the vote of another qualified US citizen. Only liberals have a record of trying to do that. The vote of an illegal voter cancels out the vote of an American citizen on the other side of an issue... any issue.

The basic, fundamental, issue here is the integrity of the voting process. By opposing that concept the liberals are doing to the foundation of this nation the very same thing that termites do to the foundation of a wooden building. Thus they demonstrate that to them gains for their political party is more important that the strength of our nation.

Americans need to stop being scared of this govt. you people need to start revolting against this tyrannical govt. or we are going to keep going down this path of socialism, 2 economy's one for the rich and one for the poor. the democrats have been trying for the past 60 years to create a class of poor and to keep them their dum and blind to the truth, the rich have been finding ways to keep the govt. off their money (many of them are succeeding) soon now with the influx of illegals the democrats instigated America will become a nation 2 classes sooner than later

Certainly they are trying to discourage those voters who they think are less likely to vote conservative.

But that's not really answering your question. Is it likely to backfire? I'm just not sure.

I suppose it'll backfire if those voters get mad enough about it. So far I'm not seeing the evidence. But the election in the fall ought to give us some clues.

You want all the suppressions listed - Dem and Rep, where you go wrong and foolish is to think, whine and blame Conservatives as if you, your kind or Dems are any better than a Conservative - NOT and WRONG which makes all of you " Part of the Problem " more so than corrupt politics and politicians - Dem or Rep !!!
