Why don't LGBT and feminist groups publicly address the homophobia/ womens rights in Islamic countries in the middle east?

Many middle eastern countries have capital punishment for simply being gay. Women's rights are oppressed in these countries as well.

If the LGBT groups and feminists care about equality so much, why do they not focus in the middle east? Women and gays have it MUCH WORSE in these countries than in the US.

I don't see them supporting the US military or pushing foreign policy on their agendas.

There are many American women's groups who help the women in the Middle East. UNHCR, Global fund for women are two that come to mind, feel free to join or donate.



Besides that, we have issues here, just because another place is worse doesn't mean we stop fighting for progress in this country. Saying other countries are worse isn't really the argument you think it is.

There are groups trying to address the women's rights issues- one was started by Jay Leno's wife. They supported using the U.S. military in Afghanistan- which hasn't worked out very well. But the others are right that it makes more sense for people to work for social justice in their own countries, where they have more influence. Then you hope that people in other countries learn by example that they should stand up for their rights.

Because the rule of thumb is to fix your own house before attempting to fix another. There's plenty of work in the U.S. to be done concerning these issues.
