The USPS is broke and is closing 700 of them.. even thinking of shortening the week too 5 day work week.. What happens to us when govt goes broke with their healthcare system?.. That is not a good example at all! He don't have a good example because all govt programs fail..

See, the analogy of the USPS being able to coexist with private parcel delivering companies and Universal Healthcare being capable of coexisting with private insured healthcare is flawed. The healthcare bill will basically outlaw private insure healthcare. Current payers to private healthcare insurance will be grandfathered in, but people may not switch, and new customers may not join. It may not initially put private insurance companies out of business, but over time, with regulations, mandates, taxes, and the like, private insurance companies would be put out of business in a matter of years, leaving Government Healthcare, A.K.A Obamacare, as the ONLY option.

0bama is an idiot. That is all.

"UPS and FedEX are doing just fine, right? It's the USPS that has all the problems..."

Edit:

"The USPS, public park, public library, public school, police and fire departments are *all* government-run. They are not perfect, no program is. But where would we be without them? Screwed."

They'd all be privatized -- as would schools, roads, infrastructure and we'd be better for it.

Public Parks are local Governements at work -- the Community.

National Parks are Federally funded. However, all the Government does is buy the land and preserve it -- Forests tend to take care of themselves.

Yes.

And the USPS has a monopoly on first class mail. No one is LEGALLY able to compete or they'd be failing there as well. So they don't even compete with Fed Ex and UPS on their largest faction. It's a poor comparison. And not just because the USPS is broke.

Fed EX and UPS would go bankrupt if the government put so many restrictions on them that they had to copy the business model of the post office.

Compared it to the post office with many years of service before Bush's oil and energy policies left it broke...

No, actually he basically said the Post Office was in trouble. He and other Liberals are not able to draw conclusions.

Private monopolies are bad because they abuse their power by making too much money while not delivering their product

Public monopolies are worse because they abuse their power by losing everyone a ton of money and not delivering their product

The USPS is run separately. USPS employees have their own health benefits separate from other Federal employees.

He was trying to make an example of where private companies compete w/government-run entities..
