Question:
Is this view of America right?

Working on an oil tanker I have been to America few times, read your newspapers and watched your news. So much different than Sweden, larger, faster and confusing politics. America has a lot of great things, especially your culture with its diversity and how cheap it is to buy things in America.

When I think of Liberals I think of idealists, but I also see them as traitors to their own country. It seems they gladly give comfort to Americas enemies for politics. I never seen a country before with a population that despises itself as much your Liberals seem to harbor for their own country.

When I think of Conservatives, I see them as a little selfish, but they also seem to harbor great love for their country and they never seem to sell out their country for politics. They also seem happier and without the bitterness you see in Liberals.

I have great respect for America, though I wouldn't want Sweden to be like America. We are very different and much smaller, with different set of problems, I prefer the easy lifestyle a small population gives you. Though if I were to live in a large country, America would be my first choice.

Sounds good to me from a political point of view, as you said confusing and a lot going on. Liberals are progressive revolutionaries, constant change, typically for the worse.

You know, I feel everything your saying concerning the simple way of life.

I think you got it right with the american discription. Your correct on all our problems, but the things you like are a result of some of our creeds. The capitalistic enviroment does promote cheeper goods this is true. The air of competition keeps a meritocracy alive so that people earn their way instead of have their way because of station, birth, or favor. At the same time though, capitalism stratifies the people in to the haves and have nots. Makes some rich and more poor, and promotes greater crime. I think America cultur is an attempt to satisfy most of the people most of the time. I do envy places like australia and canada where class stratification is less apparent and where socialized healthcare is a reality. Then I remember that america is a young country thats only 300 years old. Where basicly a modern day Rome with all the socail problems that the roman empire had in the days of Pilot. Isn't that an odd comparison. We got Political conflicts, military conflicts, and internal religious conflicts. I feel if we don't start taking notes from some of these more stabilized contries we might infact go the way of Rome also.

The clue is in the phrase 'been to America a few times'. Unless you have crossed a country from end to end and worked in several places in that country you will only have a partial view. Which part of Sweden should I visit to get a good idea of the country?

I lived and worked in an Australian city for 3 years in the 1970s, and visited relatives on a cattle and sheep property in northern New South Wales, but I would not say that I really knew Australia.

Well, you're right about "idealism" vs. "self-preservation". But, I disagree with your reasoning.

Part of being idealistic is asking, "how can we change to make things better?" By and large Liberals love their country! But, their standards are high and they will call "foul" any time America's actions don't follow America's ideals and values.

Part of having self-preservation is asking, "Is the risk of loss worth the cost of something new?" Ironically, conservatives tend to be the most idealistic (liberals could be most realistic) They tend to grab hold of "Traditional Americana" and down play problems because they worry we'll get to a point where, in our wondering, we loose American idealism.

If you rely on FOX to get your definition of Liberal then you are correct. Most conservatives really have no idea what a liberal is. First and most important, most people do not agree with more than 60% of the official party agenda (either party). Which means that the masses just lean right or left but are not really liberal or conservative.

And, Yahoo Answers is not a good place either. Both sides of the political spectrum are only here to infuriate their political opposition. Not a good benchmark of what people think in America

I believe your perception is about as accurate and balanced as can be achieved considering the sources of your information.

You are right, America is complex but in general, you paint a picture that is accurate to the extent if the details easily available. You are also correct in stating that life in small, less complex society , though maybe not as interesting, is a lot easier to deal with.

Not all Liberals hate America and not all Conservatives are selfish, but those elements do exist.

that's relatively a possibility that there replaced into no actual concentrated on in any respect. in basic terms a a possibility suspicion with reference to the surprising massive inflow of each and every of the requests for tax exempt status from a unmarried political team. i would not enable tax exemption for something different than charities and church homes and then i might scrutinize them heavily.

how do we give comfort to our enemies? you say we do, but you don't say how?

your comments seem VERY un-Swedish... as the few people I have met from Sweden seem to agree with liberals on most issues and see the inherent logic...

I can understand why some in Europe may see us Conservatives as a little selfish, America has a long tradition of individualism and we also believe strongly in personal responsibility. Communities are tighter in small populated countries, whereas a country of 300 million people has enormous differences.

But yes, your post is pretty much right-on.

Liberals despise America, that is true. They hate America because they hate themselves.

No, your view is not correct. I am a liberal and I served my country honorably. To call me and other liberals like me a traitor is disgusting. Sweden is where you belong.

I'd say you have it on the dot. Liberals wont stop until the Constitution dries up and blows away. For some reason liberals think the best way of stimulating the economy is to raise taxes and business taxes, which really forces our businesses overseas and cause job loss which is a major problem today. When we want to lower business taxes they say we just want to keep the rich richer and the poor poorer, but lowering business taxes will allow businesses to expand and create jobs for many Americans.

ps Liberals already sold this country out to China many years ago!!!! I also know many people that live in my dried up town, a lot of people are on welfare and don't really need to be on it. Swear to God, I know someone who bought an H2 Hummer when they first came out, but is on welfare. Thanks to Liberals many lazy people are living the American dream.

Conservatives are not selfish they don't believe in helping lazy people, because Humans are naturally lazy and if you give them free stuff they will lose the will to better themselves, Liberals in America are Frauds, they just want to milk the system for their own Personal gains, they are ELITES we thought we got rid of when we rebelled against England

Why thank you for the complement! And you are very astute in your observations.
