January 9 1951– The new United Nations headquarters officially opens in New York City.



January 18,1951 – Korean War: Chinese and North Korean forces capture Seoul.



February 27 1951 – The Twenty-second Amendment to the United States Constitution, limiting Presidents to two terms, is ratified.



March 29, 1951 - Second Red Scare: Ethel and Julius Rosenberg are convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage. On April 5 they are sentenced to receive the death penalty.



May 9, 1951 – Operation Greenhouse: The first thermonuclear weapon is tested on Enewetok Atoll in the Marshall Islands, by the United States

That was a time of communism. Mainly the Cold War. Fidel Castro was in power in Cuba, the Korean War was happening and stuff like that. But the US tried an invasion of Cuba. It was called the Bay of Pigs. The CIA secretly trained Cubans who had fled Cuba because of Castro, and tried to retake it. It failed and embarrassed the US.
