"Owns?" Israel will have to surrender land it has occupied on the West Bank, and probably in the Golan Heights, as it has repeatedly promised to do. But it would go a long way toward a solution if the Arab nations that have expressed concern for so long would take part in a solution. If, for example, a coalition of nations would compensate Jordan for ceding land to the Palestinians, it would make a big difference. This is hardly just Israel's problem.

Most of the land Israel has taken is in fact in dispute to begin with.
For instance Israel has been told repeatedly to stop building on the west bank but continues to thwart international law. Every time the UN tries to enforce the law, America with its veto power blocks it.
Since the war of 1967, Palestinians have come to accept the reality of Israel within the 1948 boundaries. The land dispute has increasingly focused on Israel's occupation of the remaining territories -- the West Bank, Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem. UN Resolutions 242 and 338 stipulate that Israel must withdraw completely from these territories. Israel withdrew from the Gaza Strip on 12 September 2005, but continues to build many Jewish settlements in the other territories, actions deemed illegal by virtually all other states. The Oslo Accords (1993) and the Road Map (2003) have failed to reach a land agreement between the parties or to bring Israeli withdrawal.
Since 2002, the Israeli government has been building a "security fence" that winds deep into Palestinian territory, claiming the barrier would keep Palestinian suicide bombers from striking Israeli citizens. But this separation wall is a major de facto annexation of Palestinian territories. By building the wall and increasing settlement expansion, Israel retains control over important Palestinian economic areas, agricultural grounds and natural resources like water. The International Court of Justice has ruled that Israel's West Bank barrier violates international law, but the unequal struggle over the land of Palestine continues.

The Jewish State have existed long beforeChristianity and Islam came into being as a religion. The Jewish State known already as Israel was surrounded by desert people like themselves, namely Bedouins, Egyptians, Philistines, Samaritans, Sumerians, Hittites, Amorites, Babylonians, Assyrians, etc blah blah...who are always at each other's throat, all of them including the Jews were all desert people. The advantage of the Israelites that time was that they were united already by a belief that is Judaism. Mohammedanism (Islamism) came very much later on, even much later than Christianity. The Jews were expelled from Israel (one of the 2 Jewish Kingdom) when the Assyrians took the Israelites away from their homeland and brought to Assyria (the other kingdom was assimilated into the other tribes or kingdom). The Israelites were left to thrive on their own without a country/place of their own. But deep in their soul they know they have a place of their own as promised to them by God. Which they have already occupied before they were disperse to the different part of the ancient world. Archaeological artifacts could attest to all of these. War was the culprit for all of these miserable situations where the Jews are in. Every tribe in that area the middle east then, wants to reign as the supreme one, that's why people are displaced as often as it could be. The reasons as far as i am concern for these conflicts are greed and jealousy. In actuality conflcts can be avoided if we can only recognize everyone's right to exist. A simple coexistence can solve all of these, but it cannot happen because we claim according to our own belief/faith that God has instructed us otherwise. This is foolishness and stupidity. When will people really know and realize that all of us (Jews Christians Moslems Hindus Buddhist) can disappear in a matter of seconds if it will be Willed by the Supreme One. WHEN WILL PEOPLE REALLY LEARN.

the problem in Gaza is over a soldier that was kidnapped almost 3 years ago. If this man was released conditions would improve greatly for the people in the region. Why this man was kidnapped and why he is not released is a mystery the Hamas government is being cruel to the people that elected them for not releasing this soldier. They are responsible for the nightmare conditions in Gaza. Schalit, captured in June 2006, has both French and Israeli nationality. Hamas wants Israel to free hundreds of Palestinian prisoners in exchange for Schalit. Israel has rejected the demand, but media reports have said it is softening its position following the recent military offensive in Gaza.

I'm pretty sure that at some point in the future underwater cities will be a viable option. Until that time, I don't see other options.
