First lines of the article.

"President Obama is proud of his bailout of General Motors. That’s good, because, if he wins a second term, he is probably going to have to bail GM out again. "

From your article:

"In the 1960s, GM averaged a 48.3% share of the U.S. car and truck market. For the first 7 months of 2012, their market share was 18.0%, down from 20.0% for the same period in 2011. With a loss of market share comes a loss of relative cost-competitiveness. "

I'm always a bit nervous when I see a reporter comparing GM's current sales to it's sales of 50 years ago. Apparently GM sales are down 2% from the first 7 months of last year. Right in the middle of that sales period a massive Tsunami wiped out the production and export capacity of their largest foreign competitors.

I think we should embrace the fact that some businesses are strategic, and set up some business insurance fund that all businesses must pay into to borrow against or use to defray the losses they cause in the event they fail. Who will build GM military vehicles and engines?

Tough on all car manufacturers right now. I guess they won't get another bail-out. If they screw-it up then i would imagine they are going to the wall.

If GM can't figure out how to be competitive even with a bailout they don't deserve any more help. Sorry, but if you live by the free market, you can die by the free market as well.

Was no reason to give them all that money. They went bankrupt anyway. They could have filed bankruptcy without all that tax payers money. It was all a scam.

Paid off Obama's cronies in the unions.

A kick-back so large that no one dare prosecute.

The article is little more than idle speculation.
