"The goverment have screwed the system. There are simply not enough people paying tax and too many on benefits. Our country was stronger when we had an industry.. We have bugger all now. We have no real engineering firms (i know there are wome big names but not compared to china, germany, america to name a few), home grown car manufacturers... No real technology to compete against other countries... We have sold our souls to become a service providing country and not a country with any real industry like what we had compared to other countries in the old days. We as a country have gone backwards. I work hard for an average wage but even my job is a service type job... We nerd to build an industry again and invest not in degrees that flood the market to become worthless qualifications vut apprentiships with real skills, real smart engineering firms, we need to be pioneers like the old days but the goverment fucked up progressive economy for us and our future. We are also having the piss taken out of our country by immigrants who do not work and commit fraud and take money back home taking liquid funds out of the country... Another issue is thatvwas started years ago to out source services to cheaper countries no issue there but now its gone too far that we have no industry and now we import everything - through majority of it we need and can't export. All we have to offer to the world is services... Nothing like the industry Germany has or that Chinese is building and so on."

We need to revive industries so that more people pay taxes. These people leaving uni with Mickey Mouse Degrees in media studies and sport and such like are doing nothing for the country. When we have the lowest broadband speeds in Europe technology is not going to progress. Where I live the broadband is 0.5mgs so people have gone back to dial up!. I agree with all what has been said about immigrants and benefits. We need to close the borders and stop people taking jobs which belong to people living in this country and we should put a ban on them sending benefits home.

The policy adopted by this government is illogical ,throwing tens of thousands out of work, then paying benefits to the unemployed (common sense ?)as the questioner clearly states we need to build industry again that is seemingly impossible if the current government do not alter the way they are thinking. Industry cannot be built when there are no jobs available get people back to work and paying tax =that makes more sense.=

Some of the problems he is talking about have been brought up by both parties here. The transition to a service economy is one such issue. Others are common sense
