Why did americans vote Donald Trump as president, even he's not that smart?

So, they picked the worse one so that they henceforth could do anything really stupid and could claim "Trump duz it and hes prezidinkt".

We didn't.  He lost by 3 million votes.  Trump was appointed to office by corrupt Republicans.

The majority of it is party loyalty.  People will vote for their party regardless, as if it were a sports team that they want to see win.  This is true of Democrats and Republicans, of course.

 

What a lot of people miss about Trump is that he's especially good at marketing, and so he knew how to market himself to conservative voters.  He talks like a regular guy, rather than a politician.  He says whatever he wants, rather than as if he were giving a speech.  He tends to speak optimistically of small town America and its chances for a revival.  And most of all he's always out there, shaking hands and whatnot.

 

For rural Americans who mostly feel ignored, a guy like Trump can seem like a godsend compared to the usual crowd who focus on population over people.

Con artist Trump convinced them that he would magically solve all their problems. Instead he has created more problems. They thought Hillary was evil. Trump turned out to be 100 times as evil as Hillary. (Actually Hillary was no saint, but not 'evil'.)

I have scratched the blood from my head about that. Pretty much everybody in the world knew this man was corrupt and  unfit to lead this country. So talk about a mystery. This one has me scratching blood.
