Loan forgiveness won't help stimulate the economy. Students qua students are not productive members of society while they are attending college. Only after they graduate is there any hope they'll add to the economy.

If they are fortunate to have a job upon graduation and begin paying back the money they owe, that money can be reloaned to productive sectors of the economy.

Cap Sallie Mae loans and add a risk premium to all student-selected majors with no demonstrable job prospects.

Seeing as home values were artificially inflated at the same time ad campaigns coerced owners to tap into the "wealth" of them I'd say many people were set up to fall. We gave the banks $700 billion to deal with it. They gave themselves bonuses. The housing market is the single most important faction of a healthy economy but the banks refuse to take their medicine to heal the situation.

Just foolish people that are doing well now but wait until the entire world economy fails. Did I say foolish? I meant stupid.

I think that is an alright idea so long as you don't get to turn around and get credit or suffer a down grade in you ability to get credit.

If the lender must make a sacrifice for the greater good then so too should the borrower make this small sacrifice.

It would be great if everyone had the same opportunity, and not just the irresponsible ones.
