This guy is either extremely naive or completely full of sh*t. (or maybe both)

WASHINGTON – It's hardly the image of transparency the Obama administration wants to project: A workshop on government openness is closed to the public.

The event Monday for federal employees is a fitting symbol of President Barack Obama's uneven record so far on the Freedom of Information Act, a big part of keeping his campaign promise to make his administration the most transparent ever. As Obama's first year in office ends, the government's actions when the public and press seek information are not yet matching up with the president's words.

"The Freedom of Information Act should be administered with a clear presumption: In the face of doubt, openness prevails," Obama told government offices on his first full day as president. "The government should not keep information confidential merely because public officials might be embarrassed by disclosure, because errors and failures might be revealed, or because of speculative or abstract fears."...............People who routinely request government records said they don't see much progress on Obama's transparency pledge.

"It's either smoke and mirrors or it was done for the media," said Jeff Stachewicz, founder of Washington-based FOIA Group Inc., which files hundreds of requests every month across the government on behalf of companies, law firms and news organizations. "This administration, when it wants something done, there are no excuses. You just don't see a big movement toward transparency."

The San Francisco-based Electronic Frontier Foundation, a civil liberties group, said it filed 45 requests for records since Obama became president, and that agencies such as NASA and the Energy Department have been mostly cooperative in the spirit of Obama's promises. But the FBI and Justice Department? Not so much, said Nate Cardozo, working for the foundation on a project to expose new government surveillance technologies.

The FBI resisted turning over copies of reports to a White House intelligence oversight board about possible bureau legal violations. The FBI said it's so far behind reviewing other, unrelated requests that it can't turn over the reports until May 2014.

Officially?

Well, No.

Officially, there are no such promises on his website.

No, he hasn't "officially" done it. Everything has been un-official, no one in his administration has made any statements as to the level of their transparency.

He never started with transparency unless it is numbers that his admin has created (see the jobs saved numbers). From his closed door meetings, to his back door deals made for health care reform and his refusal to release documents there is no transparency. I'm really curious as to who really believed him when he made this "promise".

that is trouble-free to forgive your man or woman guy. as an occasion, I surprisingly undergo in innovations candidate George W. Bush talking out against united states of america-development interior the 2nd presidential debate against Al Gore. I additionally undergo in innovations candidate Bush favoring letting States come to a call what to do with same-intercourse marriage leaving the federal government out of the communicate. yet 4 years later he replaced his place and sought after a Constitutional substitute banning same-intercourse marriage. for my section, i do no longer think of the presence of a mandate is incredibly the subject for those opposing the well-being reform invoice. i think of the contest merely does not choose the government in touch, era. the subject count number of the mandate is merely an attempt to create a wedge undertaking for people who're not sure. The mandate, for my section, isn't a significant substitute to the accepted promise from Obama of well-being care reform yet is very a procedural one. although, the Bush promise of leaving the federal government out of the same-intercourse marriage undertaking and then helping a Constitutional substitute banning that is recognition with the help of the States is a significant substitute. one ought to argue the ought to rebuild Iraq and Afghanistan develop into the right element to do after bombing them even though it does not substitute the incontrovertible fact that Pres. Bush's preliminary opposition to united states of america development develop into sparkling and without caveats. i assume it is your prerogative in case you pick to hold a flesh presser liable for each element of a campaign promise no longer met. for my section, if the accepted promise is met this is stable sufficient for me. EDIT: whether Bush wasn't 'your guy', the element keeps to be the same. actual everyone seems to be keen to ignore what they think approximately small issues in replace for the accepted objective. of direction what's small to them could be extensive to you. that is all very subjective.

Obama broke that promise by rushing the stimulus bill through before anyone had a chance to read it.
