The Democrats are fighting for Democracy, liberty and social justice.

The Republicans are fighting for more conservative control. Conservatives want a smaller less effective and less powerful federal government. They want fewer regulations allowing industry to pollute the environment and kill and/or injure citizens. They want lower wages or at least allow employers to pay whatever wage the market demands which would certainly be lower. They want the freedom and liberty to discriminate against racial and ethnic minorities and gays. They want to deny a woman's right to an abortion. They want to make the US a religuous state where Christianity is the official religion and taught in public schools. They want no bans or restrictions on gunownership. They want to make patriotism mandatory such as making it illegal to not stand for the national anthem etc.

They want a press that always favors and protects conservatism and conservative politicians....

The German people were living under the Nazi regime which emphasized patriotism and allegiance to the Fatherland. I would suppose that most Germans didn't think they were the bad guys.



Remember that the Nazis had either imprisoned all leftists, driven them out of the country or murdered them outright. The remaining leftists were very much suppressed by the Nazi dictatorship and totalitarian regime. Once Hitler turned the German democracy into a dictatorship, there was no opposition from the press or the courts and there was no political opposition left. Nazi propaganda was also very effective.
