Question:
What Do You Think - 9/11 Suspects To Face Military Tribunal Instead of Civilian Court?

The Obama administration has decided to refer avowed 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four alleged henchmen to the system of military commissions for trial rather than to a civilian federal court in New York, a federal law enforcement official said Monday.

After months of delay, the administration finally backed off Attorney General Eric Holder's November 2009 announcement that the five would be tried in a courthouse just blocks from the World Trade Center site in downtown Manhattan that was attacked on Sept. 11, 2001.

Republicans wasted no time Monday in criticizing the delay.

"It's unfortunate that it took the Obama administration more than two years to figure out what the majority of Americans already know: that 9/11 conspirator Khalid Sheikh Mohammed is not a common criminal, he's a war criminal," said House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith of Texas.

On Monday, NYC Mayor Bloomberg applauded the decision to use military tribunals instead.

"I've always thought that's more appropriate, and while we would have provided the security if we had to here in New York City, you know being spared the expense is good for us," Bloomberg told reporters at a news conference on another topic.

"I happen to think that it's probably more appropriate to do it in a secure area with a military tribunal."

It is better by far that the mastermind of 9/11 be tried before a military tribunal rather than in a civilian court. If the latter would be the case, not only would the costs to New York City be astronomical, but the trial itself would become a media bonanza in which Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and his lawyer would make every effort to concoct arguments that in the end, the only truly responsible party is the United States of America. Khalid Sheikh Mohammed's terrorist supporters, moreover, would be watching the trial closely and could effectively get marching orders from him during his testimony, even if he speaks in coded language that the average person doesn't understand.

Moreover, military tribunals is how Nazi saboteurs were dealt with in the days of World War II - and when the saboteurs were found guilty, they were executed. Khalid Sheikh Mohammed doesn't mind dying at American hands at any rate - and if justice is served he will pay with his life for his role in the acts of war against America on September 11, 2001.

The alleged suspects of the media staged terror bombings of September 11, 2001 died when the planes crashed into the twin towers.

The real suspects for 9/11 were never caught because the FBI and New Jersey Police Department found out that the people they arrested in connection to the bombings on 9/11 weren't Muslims and that didn't fit the government's story.

i does no longer anticipate lots with the help of way of justice or an ordeal: criminal, civil or otherwise. The crackpots in government are all liars. they won't in any respect admit that 9/11 became right into a bad rendition of Hitler's Rietchstag fireplace whcich set off off his upward thrust to power. Monkeybush and ApeCheney performed despotic conflict video games in what is going to in all probability develop into prevalent through fact the main arrogantly idiotic defense force blunders in human background!

In this case, hysteria took precedence over common sense. Criminals are almost always tried in the District wherein the crime occurred. But Republicans and Democrats alike have given the terrorists the power of them. They let fear rule their decisions, instead of logic. Shame on them and the Attorney General for giving up.

Bush promised the Saudi Royal Family that all these SAUDI guys wouldn't get the death panels. That's why the right has been whining about military tribunerals - because military courts DON'T EXECUTE PEOPLE!!!

they will never be allowed a lawyer - thus a military tribunal is necessary to sweep it under the rug

A civilian court would be more appropriate.
