My grand father came back to a hurting economy in world war one and considered himself one of the lucky ones to get a job after the war Cars were making their way in Canada for the majority in the 20's after the war Some did well others did not -- There were no jobs the dust bowls of the west still claimed lives Things were bad

They took the guns of the men off them at the boat during re entry in Canada It was said the government was afraid of what a well trained group of soldiers might do when seeing the state of affairs in Canada

Those vet fought like a fiend on steroids to get for the second world war vets the benefits they had

Finances for houses --- free education at a post secondary level -- payement for the ill and injured and money for the widows whose husbands had been killed in their services to the King

They fought -- up hill against a system that lasted a 100 years of Thank you for your service to the Empire this is your last pay packet Uniform on the hanger guns on the table Next in line please

I am sorry to tell you --- but the things my grandfather fought for after the war for those who went to war after him needs to be fought in your nation and constantly in our own

Up hill against the odd and good luck may your god help you in it

Ma'am. First off, I apologize for the loss of your husband. Nothing I can say or do can help your loss. I will, however, do my best to explain the VA system more to you.

It is a series of hospitals designed for our veterans. It includes nursing homes, etc.

It is, unfortunately, run by government bureaucrats, and is staffed with government workers, and this applies from the lowest dude picking up smokes outside the door to the highest doc on staff in charge of the whole kit-and-kaboodle.

The amount of time and resources wasted there is incomprehensible. I personally would lose income if it were killed. But I am an American first, and a consumer second. Something needs to be done.

There is no excuse for military pensions not being far higher than those of pencil-pushing cubicle hamster government officials. Please forgive me, but it was Obama who first proposed discontinuing benefits for vets. I have not heard any republican rumblings.

It is a very dysfunctional wornout country club where good-old-boys can have camaraderie. But the cost of care, the waste, and the overall horse**** level of care they receive is totally unacceptable. I am willing to pay a lot more taxes (and I pay a lot already) to make this happen. I am sorry you had such a loss, and I have no idea how much you saw, or where -- but the whole thing needs a do over. And soon.

And this is a conservative, not a republican talking. An ex-Repub, and the respect veterans and their families have from us is so many times more than that from the liberal party of "me". Please comment in return, and I will comment back, my apologies, and I hope I can do something to help. I hope WE can organize something to help.

There is no reason we could not provide our vets with congress-level health-care for life, and allow them to go whereever they want, whenever the hell they wanted to do so. The cost would be a push. The resistance from the entrenched bureaucracy would be amazing.

As a widow of a Veteran, I know your heart is breaking and it doesn't seem anyone cares. But they do. I worked for a VA medical center and they are the tops. Total bureaucracy, but tops nonetheless.

The Republicans will dismantle NOTHING. We still have a Democratically controlled senate and a Democratic President. The Republicans are all talk and no action. Their bark is worse than their bite. Even though they do nothing but bark.

You need to go to the nearest VA Medical Center near you, if you haven't done so already. They are there for Veterans, but also for their families.

The Republicans will focus on nothing the next 2 years, except trying to get rid of Obama. I keep hearing them say the voters have spoken. What they still don't get is the voters were displeased with both Republican and Democratic Congressman, yet they act as if they had no part of anything (in reality they really didn't. They just sat on their butts for 2 years defying Obama).

Americans have all eyes on them to see what they'll accomplish and anyone with a brain, already knows, they'll accomplish nothing.

Stay on yahoo with your contacts. You need alot of positive and REAL support from caring people. You'll get it from Democrats. You'll get nothing from Republicans. E-mail any time.

What your source shows (in case you click on the link displaying what the information comes from) is that McCain did no longer consider the comparable expenses their team agreed with. it particularly isn't a pollof squaddies asserting "i do unlike him" it particularly is a team of people asserting "i like this invoice, did he vote for it?" regrettably the subject is that a lot of those expenses sound staggering and he possibly might have supported too, in the event that they weren't so full of catches. it particularly is a shame each and all of the greater suitable BS it extremely is positioned into an otherwise staggering plan. besides because of the fact of this he scored a D. He stood against ineffective even risky earmarks which meant having to bypass against in spite of expenses the IAVA supported that they have got been linked to.

I think I speak for most ppl when I say we have better things to do than to respond to your deliberate mis-characterization of ideas.

Shutting down all these things and then replacing them with stuff other ideas that work and are fiscally responsible is the actual idea, not the 1/2 truth you like to tell.

Nobody buys this BS anymore and you just look like a stereotypical brainwashed sheep by continuously failing to acknowledge the real position of the other side.

as a VET i can tell you the country is broke.

we have to make cuts. if the nation goes bankrupt no vet, or active duty member gets anything.

when the USSR fell their military started leaving their post because the paychecks stopped.

I watch my money very closely. There is one charity I give to and give to big, Disabled American Vets. There isn't a Conservative alive who wants to cut veterans' benefits. Your source seems like a pretend "real" site. Believe me, there are plenty of places to cut before we cut on veterans. But that's the liberal modus operandi. "If we can't raise taxes, we'll have to cut fire fighters, police, teachers, blah blah blah". The scare tactic. Why don't they look at all the horsesh!t in the budget first?

bush and republicans seem not to care about the spent fleshes and wounded patriots other than telling them they did a terrific outstanding job fighting for wall street and the military complex.

Stop drinking the kool-aid. If you really are the widow of a veteran, he's better off dead than married to a shrew like you.

Republicans love the military industrial complex and hate Veterans, Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, and Airman.
