I was not a Trump supporter, but I did vote for him.
You are mentioning the fervor of the Trump supporters, but have you not seen the same thing for Obama and Clinton supporters? The fawning, etc. Did you fail to see the violent, rioting, destruction reaction from many liberals after the elections and past inauguration day? I would categorize that as fervor.
As for your assertion that the news is biased, I agree. But that the facts are usually correct - I very much disagree with that assertion.
The facts are often not correct, often slanted, and many important stories that do not fit the narrative are completely ignored. It is despicable behavior from "journalists." They have become political hacks and they most certainly do lie. This has been happening for decades now, it is not new, and many people are VERY sick of it, thus part of the reason for the fervor.
Many people have been VERY sick of politicians in general for decades as well, therefore the fervor for a non politician.
But the main reason - The Economy. MANY people were negatively affected as far as being able to make a living and support their families. Obama's policies hurt many people. Clinton would have been more of the same. So people went for the person talking about jobs.
Many people are sick of illegal immigrants coming into the country and being a drain on our resources (which include jobs). Trump talked about stopping illegal immigration and sending the criminal illegals home.
People also support him for talking about repealing Obamacare. It has negatively impacted VERY MANY people, myself included.
Then you look at the candidate running against him - Hillary Clinton. She was a VERY poor candidate with way too many skeletons in her closet (that's putting it kindly).
Many liberals seem to love her, but there are many non liberals who despise her. Those of us who have watched her for decades and have seen the despicable things she has done. She was an awful choice for a candidate.
Besides being a poor candidate Clinton had basically nothing good to offer on the economy and failed to visit many states during her campaign assuming she had them in the bag, big mistake.
I could go on, but this is a good start.
