How can one member of congress, Nancy Palosi, stop all chances of oil being drilled for. How does the House Majority Leader have the power to hold up all voting on oil drilling. As far as I remember they are there to keep order and guide regular procedures. Why does she have the power the president does to shut down a bill.

We don't.

But answer me this:

How can we live in a world where a very small handful of dim, selfish, lazy, over-indulgent uber-consumers are simply unable to grasp the simple concept that THE OIL IS GOING TO RUN OUT ONE DAY so isn't the smart thing to do would be to prepare for that eventuality?

Instead of whining and sobbing and stamping your feet that the grown-ups won't allow you to keep shooting up heroin?

Allegorically speaking, that is.

that's an excellent question which even has our illustrious President perplexed. superb now he's in Columbia, South u . s . of america to persuade the persons there to thoroughly drill for oil in offshore waters so as that that's offered to us. on the comparable time, he's obstructing new drilling in u . s . offshore waters through fact that's no longer secure. we elect the oil except you spot no concern with $10 a gallon gasoline in some 3 hundred and sixty 5 days (assuming the reelection of this president)

We don't live in a world where one person can stop all oil drilling. Oil is still being drilled in many, many parts of the world, including our own country. Nancy Pelosi is just prohibiting the drilling of oil in our national parks and heavy tourist destinations. Allowing oil to be drilled in our national parks totally defeats the purpose of having national parks. The tourism dollars generated by certain coastal areas is much greater than any economic boost from oil being drilled. She has greater power than the president in terms of shutting down a bill because she is Speaker of the House, and Congress is where bills are created. The president's power lies in enforcing laws, not creating and passing them.

Pelosi's refusal to allow debate and voting on new leases and drilling proposals is a disgrace. This is what happens when you elect Democrats. They claim to be for the little guy until the little guy shows up, and then they step on the little guy because he is so, well, little. John McCain has good ideas to jumpstart American energy production. Let's get someone in the White House who will punch Nancy Pelosi's lights out. With Democrats in control of both Congress and the White House, energy prices will skyrocket in the coming years. That is what they want. It is our job to prevent it from happening.

Oil companies already have tons of places they could drill for oil, but what incentive do they have?

If I was selling oil for $120 a barrel and someone told me I could work harder and drill for more to drop the price to $60 a barrel, why would I, as a profit making company, want to do that?

How do we live in a world........? We were born here, sweetheart. And it's called "pecking order"... aka democracy. If you know anything about government at all, you would realize that Nancy didn't make that decision all by herself, nor does she, all by herself, have "the power" to shut down a bill. And if you are of voting age, you had as much "power" as anyone else when you marked your ballot.

She is a liberal socialist democrat whose inalienable, inherited right is to be the most powerful person in the world. She and she alone is going to rule this world and everyone will be happy when she does.

I just don't know how her constituents can continue to vote that stupid woman into office. If she does get re-elected, I bet the democrats will remove her as speaker. They need to get SOMETHING done for a change.

Other countries are drilling more. Even the greenest of the green countries. Pelosi, Gore, Obama and Reid want Americans to suffer.

It is the way the rules of the House work. Not a thing we can do about it, unless one lives in CA.

We don't. The oil companies have plenty of US land leases they can drill on. But they choose not to.

I think it goes by votes...

Even if one vote is not counted, it wont happen. Everyone has to agree on the same thing.

And why would you want more oil to be drilled? Are you war hungry or something...

It's not just one person, she represents me and a lot of other people. We think you should stop using your damn SUV!

"One person" did NOT stop it....The PNAC did it many years ago when they got Ronnie and DADDY bush in the White House. The facts are out there, all one has to do is seek them out.
