Question:
As a ship captain changes course when faced with a hurricane, should Obama change his plans a bit?

I was just thinking, if you were the captain of a ship and knew a hurricane was ahead, wouldn't you change to another route?
I have noted Obama is forging ahead with plan after plan. First the stimulus, then bail outs, more spending and yet more and more dollars we don't have. He's spending and spending. He announces a spending plan, the market drops, he announced something else, the market drops again. Isn't this the hurricane captain? Shouldn't you change our course before we hit it straight on? Think!!!!! That is what you were elected to do.
I think of our economy as a bowl of Jello that is shaking like crazy. I don't think he's helping things, if anything he's scaring people into economic fetal positions, everyone is in protective mode.
He's not changing his course of action, he's like a runaway spending train. This is out of control and people are really scared. We want to hold on to what we have and we don't really feel comfortable any more.

Isn't he that captain who should view the hurricane and recognize that perhaps he's done a bit too much too soon? Perhaps if he made this judgement and stopped a few things he has set into action, the economy would calm down and people would feel relaxed enough to spend again? Is it wrong if a president changes his mind? I would think it was a maturing and a wise thing if he suddenly put on the brakes and said that in this present economy it's time to rethink a few things. I would bet the market would go up the next day.

I'm so worried about stores with no customers, people not out buying things. I, for one, can't sleep at night.

We need to get people feeling less like cats on a hot tin roof and comfortable if they just want to go to the mall and maybe buy one or two items. Right now, they are too scared.

Would you find fault with a president who set a course of action and saw that it was the wrong course and then changed his plans to correct things?

What say you?

If you could change what has been set into action, what would you change and why?

You speak the truth, and my feelings are the same. This is the very first time in my life an American President has scared me, and with Obama he just don't stop. Mistake after mistake.

Let Obama be President, okay?

Trying to second-guess his decisions is only going to end up with people like you getting burned.

For example:

Bush wasn't open for compromise on a number of issues relating to Iraq or the US economy.

We knew what to expect from him.

Obama's only been President for six weeks. He's doing the best he can under very trying circumstances.

And he's not above compromising if it means getting the job done--unlike Bush.

I understand your fears, and feel them too. I have personally lost over half my life savings in this economy.

But we must remember that the captain who steered this ship into the hurricane - the one who vowed to "stay the course" even as the ship began to capsize, was not Obama. Obama is just the one who is left struggling to right the ship and bring it through the hurricane of someone else's making.

A courageous captain would take his ship through the hurricane if he (she) knew that it was possible to survive, and believed that he/she could save millions of people on the other side.

(You said, "Perhaps if he ... stopped a few things he has set into action, the economy would calm down and people would feel relaxed enough to spend again?" Remember, people had stopped spending, the market started crashing, and most of us lost huge chunks of our savings and home values LONG before Obama was in a position to cause it, or to fix it.)

the economy is just an ends to the means...the left has wanted to implement this strategy for well over 35 years, now that they have the trifecta and a ultra leftist for president they are now carrying out the slam dunk.
