Question:
Do you think Multiple accounts are wrong?
2007-08-21 14:29:44 UTC
Some of the "top contributors" on here must think its standard S.O.P.

I find it amusing how they flag me for abuse then block me for pointing out the obvious.

How many accounts do you need to give yourself "best answers" and "thumbs up?" Im curious.

Dont like someone like me around? Then stop with the multiple accounts.

I only use one account, and if I quit responding to trolling questions, would probably have been a top contributor, long ago. LOL!

I didn't realize that giving themselves thumbs up counted as points?
2007-08-21 14:44:17 UTC
Yeah I think they're wrong but for a slightly different reason.

I think most of the multiple accounts on Y!A politics are here to create a presence, to make it seem as if there are more conservatives than there really are. Some of these multiple counts consist of people who are arguing against themselves, creating faux Democrat and faux liberal personas in order to prove the other side is extreme, foul mouthed, insulting and even paranoid.

I agree the blocks are to prevent you from defeating their arguments. In a way, it's a compliment to be blocked. It shows that you're a threat to their small world of ultraconservative thinking.

So far I haven't been suspended. I've only had one account and I've only been warned about an answer once. Maybe I'm just below the radar.

I think multiple accounts are bogus. I mean some people might want to bolster their numbers but that gets old. I put thought into my answers. I don't want to copy my answers over and over again.

yes and it is bad when they they give themselves best answers. the same ones that use multiple accounts also get a little clique of others that do the same. they then become a point gaming group and target anyone with reports they take a dislike to. all the while claiming to be upstanding conservative christians.

It doesn't make any sense to me. I've been here since May of '06 and never had a need to set up more than my one account. I wish someone would explain to me the purpose of it other than being a troll.

EDIT: And please! I didn't ask for the top contributor banner, but I don't feel as though I need to apologize for it either.

Huh? Are you mad about these "multiple accounts," or about being reported?

What about people who have friends and family on Y!A? If we vote for people in our personal networks, is that a problem?

And getting reported or blocked is a common complaint on Y!A. I haven't blamed my "Violations" on "Multiple Accounts". I'm not even sure how "Multiple Accounts" would help.

I can understand having two accounts...maybe three, depending on how much you're trying to hide from your signifcant other.

But using them to give yourself points is basically cowardice.

I know it's done all the time, judging from the bullshit "answers" that have been selected to some of the questions I've answered.
2007-08-21 14:37:48 UTC
I agree. Using multiple account to give self 10 pts is wrong and should get account banned.
2007-08-21 14:42:07 UTC
One account only, never banned been stuck around 3800 points for ever.. Have had the odd unintentional violation for strange things that make absolutely no sense.
2007-08-21 14:54:47 UTC
YES - if those accounts are used for being MEAN

NO otherwise - WHO CARES about points? What will they do for you? Do they cure cancer or give you back a limb if you've lost it? This is JUST YAHOO people...get a grip. Don't sweat the small stuff. Save your energy for bigger and more important things.

I don't report nor do I block unless someone is mean and vulgar. Then it is their own fault. I do not mind reading other opinions that conflict with mine. So what about that too.

I don't understand it either,.. but I guess it could fall into the category of people who like to hear themselves talk.

I've had this account since July 2006, and it's my ONLY account.

I wreak enough havoc with one.

I have no idea. I've only had one account at the same time - - - they keep suspending my account though, when I get to level 3. So far, so good, this time around....

I noticed that. One time, I forgot to to pick a best answer to my question and I noticed that users were voting for themselves for the best answer with 4 or 5 different accounts.

I think multiple accounts are wrong.
2007-08-21 14:40:21 UTC
Agreed. Anybody with more than a 15% best answer rating is most likely voting themselves as the best answer over and over and over.
2007-08-21 14:37:57 UTC
It's not wrong. Why would it be wrong. I look at them as personas. I'm writing a book of fiction about it. However, I don't use them to give myself points. That's just so cheap and a waste of time. I personally don't care about points. I find them rather silly. Well, I guess being on yahoo answers is a waste of time too. But you catch my drift.
2007-08-21 14:44:53 UTC
I don't see a need for them honestly.
2007-08-21 14:38:30 UTC
hey whatever floats their boat...

i only have this one account.... it's enough already!!!!!!!!!

NOBODY wants to hear me more than once!!!!!!!

hahahahaha
