I always wanted to be stationed at Ft. Bragg and earn that patch on my shoulder.  What new name should we rename Ft. Bragg with following the trend of changing history to our liking.

I have a few suggestions:

Ft Tyrone Johnson Dirt Dart Center
La-a Smith Airborne

What are your suggestions.  Let's hear em.

Perhaps it should be named after a military leader who fought for the United States of America instead of one who fought against it.

Easy, it should be renamed FT Brag.  There, compromise, no longer the name of someone objectionable, yet still close enough for all those who have passed through, to know and honor what it meant.

Camp Bragg derived its namesake in honor of the Civil War Confederate General Braxton Bragg. Camp Bragg was renamed to Fort Bragg in 1922 as its size and role in the US Army expanded. It's not up to the public to suggest names unless requested. Trump rejecting the idea immediately demonstrates he is authoritarian and racist. It is something that should be discussed by those responsible for its name.

This question indicates the author of it is racist by attitude, and probably proud of it.

Renaming is common now. The reasons could vary. Here in Las Vegas, they rename streets and hotel-casinos. Airports get renamed. Why not military bases?

The country definitely has issues of systemic and ingrained racism and prejudice. The founding of this country is based on equality, even though the meaning of it changed over time to be more inclusive.
