Is it Orwellian that liberals are using logical fallacies to prove their points?

Is this not the logical fallacy of appeal by numbers? To say that one thing is or is not because the majority of the others are or not?

Are you aware that you yourself committed at least two fallacies in posing your question?



1. You find one example of a liberal using a fallacy and you conclude "liberals are using logical fallacies." This is a classic example of hasty generalization. If one liberal uses a fallacy, it does not follow that all of them do.



2. You also ask if it is Orwellian that liberals do this thing you allege they are doing. This is a classic example of the fallacy of "begging the question," specifically in the form of a loaded or leading question. Until you've proven that in fact, liberals are using fallacies, you haven't earned the argumentative authority to ask if it's Orwellian or not.



All of which goes to show that commission of logical fallacies is not the exclusive province of liberals.

Orwellian is a descriptive term that one reserves to describe the qualities similar to what's been written in novels by George Orwell.



A logical fallacy is when you argue a point based on faulty assumptions which render all honesty from that point forward negligible.



But to directly answer your question:



Fox News is not unique... They are just as biased as any other mainstream network and they even have the same advertisers pulling their strings. It's silly for consumers to believe that Fox and MSNBC are on opposite sides... They are both on their very own side - the side of corporate controlled media.

You are arguing that the person is using appeals by numbers when in reality they are using statistical odds. Such logic is acceptable such as in contests (odds of winning depends on the number of entries received). Not an exact science however it is not a logic fallacy either.
