So they're going to continue to have these elections in every state until everyone drops out?

Yes, some of these nutty people think all the states should get to vote.

It's crazy, I know.

The candidates works to win delegates from each state.
?

Every state gets their say. It doesn't make any difference if he has 90% of the delegates. At what point do you deny republicans the right to vote for their chosen candidate?

@Nomad - I'm an independent and I voted for Ron Paul in the South Carolina republican primary.

you dont know if he is going to be the nominee because ron paul could still win so could newt gingrich if they limit mitt romney from getting 1144 delegates and they all go to tampa to the convention they can still compete for delegates this happened when president warren g harding was running he only had 7 percent of the delegates going into the convention and pulled out with 70% after the first day amazing hah so it is not over

Even after everyone else drops out, they'll STILL have elections for the states that remain.

Everyone gets a vote ... except independents.

Edit: 20 states have 'open primaries' where independents can vote. 30 states do not. (And with the exception of Texas, the BIG states do not.) And Missouri's open primary is NOT binding. A different process determines the actual delegates.
