Con job: stimulus checks for prisoners
BOSTON (AP) — Nearly two dozen convicts in Massachusetts prisons received $250 federal economic stimulus checks, and federal authorities failed to respond to several state requests for guidance on what to do with the money.

A spokeswoman for the state Department of Correction tells the Boston Herald that the agency at first withheld stimulus checks mailed to 23 inmates because prison officials believed they were not entitled to it.

Spokeswoman Diane Wiffin says the department let the inmates have the money after the federal government ignored requests for guidance.

The Social Security Administration is asking at least 14 of the prisoners to return the money.

Republican U.S. Rep. Eric Cantor of Virginia said the case showed a lack of accountability with the stimulus program.

Okay, so that's only $6000.00 of our hard earned tax money. But that's is only Massachusetts. Where else did it happen?

Do we need some real accountability before we run the national debt up to 10 trillion?

I think the TARP money actually was handed out a lot more recklessly than the stimulus.
