I've already asked this but I'm asking it again, and no I'm not a Republican.

How can anyone support Obama after renewing the Patriot Act and passing the NDAA (or any candidate/president who supports these two things)? And after lying about closing Guantanamo Bay, changing the foreign policy and cutting the deficit in half after his first year in office? He also violated the War Powers Act and doesn't even go to congress for a declaration of war like the constitution states (balance of powers). Supporting him because he's the lesser of two evils is not a reason to support a candidate.

1. Democrats support the Patriot act. Just about every Democrat in congress voted for it.

2.Obama tried to close GITMO but Democrats in congress got scared and back out.

3. The NDAA bill reaffirms that the authority of the President to use all necessary and appropriate force pursuant to the Authorization for Use of Military Force authorizing the use of United States Armed Forces against those responsible for the attacks on September 11, 2001. Both Democrats and Republicans voted for the NDAA. The senate vote for the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012 was YEAs 86 and NAYs 13. The provision clearly states it does not apply to US citizens.

From the actual bill:

SEC. 1031. AFFIRMATION OF AUTHORITY OF THE ARMED FORCES OF THE UNITED STATES TO DETAIN COVERED PERSONS PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORIZATION FOR USE OF MILITARY FORCE.

Paragraph (e) “Authorities- Nothing in this section shall be construed to affect existing law or authorities, relating to the detention of United States citizens, lawful resident aliens of the United States or any other persons who are captured or arrested in the United States.”

SEC. 1032. REQUIREMENT FOR MILITARY CUSTODY.

Paragraph (b) Applicability to United States Citizens and Lawful Resident Aliens-

(1) UNITED STATES CITIZENS- The requirement to detain a person in military custody under this section does not extend to citizens of the United States.

(2) LAWFUL RESIDENT ALIENS- The requirement to detain a person in military custody under this section does not extend to a lawful resident alien of the United States on the basis of conduct taking place within the United States, except to the extent permitted by the Constitution of the United States.

because most of the american population is brainwashed by the corporate media they leave out the most important issues like how they take away our constitutional rights for example the ndaa pretty much abolished the 4th amendment it states that the president has the power to indefinately detain american citizens without trial if that isnt tyranny that what is!!! the only way this will ever stop id if we vote ron paul int office he is the only candidate that will help restore our republic!! and one of the most brainwashing things is they have most of the american people thinking we have democracy in the us our founding fathers hated the idea of democracy so dont get brainwashed by these tyrants we are a constitutional republic and we need to restore it !

He tried to close Guantanamo. Congress (both Democrats and Republicans) refused to fund a new facility to house the the detainees because as it turns out the American people didn't want terrorists on the US mainland - even if they are locked up.

He ran on an intention to provide universal health care, and he followed through. He said he'd repeal DADT, and he did it. He got Bin Laden and other Al Qaeda top operatives, which is more than you can say for Shrub. The economy is improving, after Shrub tanked it. And he stopped torture, which is an improvement on the previous administration.

Don't forget he wants to wage another war in Iran, high gas prices, unemployment, the financial crisis (which he bragged that he would fix on Inauguration Day in 2009), etc etc.
