MARCH 26--The mother of Trayvon Martin has filed two applications to secure trademarks containing her late son’s name, records show.

Sybrina Fulton is seeking marks for the phrases “I Am Trayvon” and “Justice for Trayvon,” according to filings made last week with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. In both instances, Fulton, 46, is seeking the trademarks for use on “Digital materials, namely, CDs and DVDs featuring Trayvon Martin,” and other products.

The March 21 USPTO applications, each of which cost $325, were filed by an Orlando, Florida law firm representing Fulton, whose first name is spelled "Sabrina" in the trademark records.

Before Trayvon Martin's funeral began, Sybrina / Sabrina got road-runner fast n' busy, securing legal trademark protections on her dead son's name and several phrase designs for wide use in selling everything---from hats, caps, sunglasses, bottle openers, pens, pencils, flashlights, rubber wrist bands, socks / underwear to shirts....and yes....hoodies.

Purportedly, this was done as a means to pay the exorbitant "consulting fees" demanded down by the infamous black racist, "reverend" Al Sharpton---his "services and resources" do NOT come cheap!! Fulton even has "hired" Trayvon's daddy, her ex-husband, as an partner / employee; keeping the ca$h in the family.

Whispers contend Fulton / Sharpton, Inc. has made over six figures in their shameless marketing of dead Trayvon Martin---and Sabrina / Sybrina ( and her gofer ex-husband ) now "tour" around the U.S., in a tricked out luxury bus---busy raising MONEY, like they're entertainers / glam rock stars!!

So Sharpton's gonna be busy for awhile, till and IF the fanfare dies down.

Sabrina / Sybrina even tried to design MLK's face in a hoodie; attorney(s) for the King Estate stopped her efforts there, hard fast----and cold. And it seems now that Ms. Fulton, Inc. is starting to get busy, swatting away pesky fast popping lawsuits---shockingly filed by other BLACKS, seeking their slice of the money pie!! Imagine that!!

They were filed in the USPTO before George was even charged with any crime, but only for registration of those phrases as may someday be applied as the brand of documentary videos. As of my last check, they were set to expire in October 2013 unless she submits more documents.

That said, trademark registration in the USA is completely optional. Anyone who was the first to USE a distinctive brand on any goods or services in commerce, as an indication of source or quality (i.e., not just for decoration), automatically owned an enforceable trademark for those goods or services.

Not only will she NOT get a whole lot of money out of this, anything she DOES make can be taken by Zimmerman when he successfully sues her for the damages caused by her criminal juvenile.

Florida has no dollar limit on such damage claims by crime victims against parents of criminals.

You show ignorance. A "copyright" and a "trademark" are totally different things.

They aren't even handled by the same government agency. Trademarks are done by USPTO, while Copyrights are done by the US Copyright Office at the Library of Congress.

How about you come back and correct your mistake?

That said, I share you skepticism on trademarking these phrases. But, hey, Trump tried to trademark "You're Fired."

UPDATE: So, no. You won't even admit what was a small mistake.

Probably nothing. Everyone on YA knows that there are people who would use his name in a disparaging way for profit. Trademarking the name helps prevent that from happening. It was a smart thing for her to do.

A lot less money than Zimmerman is demanding from the taxpayers of Florida.

There are already people using Trayvon for naming their Children and the signs already exist coined by someone else so I doubt she will make anything.
