AS AN ENGLISHMAN WHO HAS RECENTLY RETURNED FROM A WORKING TRIP TO THE usa,I WAS AMAZED TO LEARN THAT THE usa IS STILL CLASSED AS THIRD WORLD BY MANY COUNTRIES INCLUDING THOSE OF AFRICA.
ALTHOUGH I FOUND THE usa A LITTLE BACKWARD WHEN IT COMES TO FOOD, MUSIC AND FASHION.
AND THIER CITY INFRASTRUCTURE WAS SOMEWHAT OUTDATED I.E WOODEN, I THINK THE usa HAS NOW DONE WHAT IT TAKES TO LOSE THAT THIRD WORLD STIGMA THAT IS ATTACHED TO IT.
MIND YOU, MANY americans STILL WALK AROUND BARE-FOOTED.

The US is so geographically large and divers in both its people's and the environment. It is wrong, wrong, wrong to say the whole of the US is backwards and third world. There are places within any country were it is possible to say the same. I have been to places within the UK that look more like a third world country than anything else.

So far as the shoe thing is concerned, I grew up in south africa and never had shoes on my feet. The only reason why people in the norther Europe wear them is it is to ******* cold not to.

Most American have a different view to the rest of us Europeans because they are different to us. As an English man I have more in common with the Americana's than I do with the french.

If you have a downer on the US my recommendation to you would be don't go there again. Travel to Sudan and see a real third world country.

Are you are sure of this? I think that you must be wrong.What is a third world country any way?.I assumed it was an undeveloped country with little manufacturing resources,mainly an agricultural economy with generally backward standards in living and education, the bulk of the population living in poverty and deprivation.This does not appear to me to apply to America.There might be areas of poverty and sub standard living in the US but this does not make it a Third World country. Not to my mind anyhow.PS I am English by the way.
