I spend an average of two hours every time the camera moves getting a scene lit, color temperatures dealt with, toppers, bottomers, siders and diffusion made just perfect, keys, fills and back lights set in accordance to place, intensity and luminosity... get the dolly track leveled, put the dolly on the track, put the camera on the dolly, work with the DP and the operator to get the move down just right, figure out how not to get in the way of the AC who will be pulling focus during that move... provide the electrics with either a scissor clip or a Cardelini so a light can be hung from somewhere, THEN I've got to rush in with some black wrap to stop the spill between the face of the light and the barn doors...
While I'm doing all that, the actors are doing their damnedest to stay in character with all this chaos going on, running their lines, getting facial expressions and body language down just exactly as if it was all happening off the cuff and naturally...
Hollywood is about 9/10ths technicians and 1/10th actors and people in the public eye.
Oh, did I mention I'm on my 10th hour at work that day already? Now I ask you...
WHEN DO I HAVE TIME TO THINK ABOUT POLITICS AT ALL, TO SAY NOTHING OF THE ILLUMINATI?
