Question:
Weather or not global warming is real, shouldn't we do something about the planet?

Ok, weather or not global warming is real (which it is, and im going to tell you why in a second) shouldn't we still care that pollution is getting to extreme levels. I live in a suburb outside of la, and sometimes I can't even see the mountains because the smog is so bad! That is something that I can see, and I don't like it at all. Also it has been proven pollution causes things like asthma and other breathing problems. These are things that are fact, not theory!

We all know cars have caused the pollution problem. SO weather or not global warming is real, you have to admit pollution is a big BIG problem!

Next is to my point of why global warming is real. Like I said, I live in a suburb outside of la and have lived here for 25 years. And I have seen it get hotter in the summers and colder in the winters. And its getting so bad I can't even live here any more. It used to snow here atleast once a year, but it hasn't snowed in over 6 years. So looking out my front door I can see there is something wrong with my planet, I don't need al gore to prove to me there is a problem!

To start with, learn the difference between "weather" and "whether". Then consider the fact that on the first Earth Day people carried signs warning about global cooling and saying our pollution was causing an ice age. Then the earth's natural cyclesstartedd to warm the planet and the same enviro-wackos started screaming that pollution was causing global warming. The snow you say you miss will come back, and you will hate it!

But I want the snow to be white, so I agree that we should not pollute everything. If you consider CO^2 to be pollution then we must seal the ocean and all the volcanoes because they are the biggest source of it. The simple fact is that CO^2 is not pollution. All plants need it, and when we put more of it in the air the plants love it.

The issue is scientific not statistical. If the weather tomorrow is wet and windy it is because of the distribution of high and low pressure regions, the temperature of ground and air, the moisture content of clouds, geographical features such as the position of mountains, etc. The point is there are a series of physical reasons why it will be windy and rainy tomorrow. Weather forecasts involve taking data from a wide variety of sources, feeding that data into models of those physical systems, and forming conclusions based on the results. Now, what some skeptics would have us believe is that, in relation to warming, the temperature increase and/or CO2 increase are 'natural variations'. Fine. But that still means there is a reason for this warming. You don't suddenly get a scientific 'get out of jail' card by claiming a 'natural variation' since all that means is 'a change in some physical parameter related to our climate'. In 40 years no one has managed to define that physical parameter. No one has managed to create a model of it. No one has managed to show that model predicts the historical data, the temperature rise, or the CO2 increase. So, the problem is that we can't do science on what people think. We can only do science on the basis of theories that explain the data. At the moment we have one theory that explains what we observe. In the absence of an alternative we can only make decisions on what we know works, not on what we think could potentially happen in the future supported by speculation with no physical model behind it. As for the statistics, the confidence level in the IPCC reports is 95% that the recent warming trend since the 1970s has been caused by human activities and the release of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere at a current rate of around 33 billion tonnes per annum.

Global warming is part of our planets cycle. So when you step out on to your porch you are not alone in seeing a change. Just hold out a few years and they will be warning of a global freeze. I know, I lived through that warning. Think about it. If the world's governments got together and decided that the majority of people enjoy 72 degrees year round. Now they decide to launch a project that could achieve that goal. Do you think that could be accomplished by man? Trust me, this is just another way to create a new tax.

We should all do more for the planet. Pollution is a massive problem and the shift towards hybrid or cleaner cars needs to (and actually is) gain momentum.

Everything that CAN be recycled should be. Resources are finite and we should not waste them.

Having said that, global warming is a myth. Recent ice core drillings have been studied and show that increased CO2 levels are caused by a warming of the climate, not the other way around. I'm no scientist but it has something to do with increases in algae and tiny plant life in the oceans giving off more CO2 because there is more of them due to the slightly warmer climate. I'm no brainiac but that makes sense to me. Also, these ice core drillings also show that our planet goes through cycles of warmer weather and has done for millions of years and the trend we are seeing now is nothing more than a normal fluctuation.

You don't want to complain if you want cooler weather come to England, we have had no summer this year other than the odd day, it's been cold and rain over the summer months, it's not the hot cycle we need to worry about, it's how cold the cold cycle will go to, we can cope with the warmer weather better than we can with the cold.

Unless Humans caused Warming on Mars, Pluto, Triton and Jupiter, I would say it's a natural cycle........

I am not advocating for all this CO2 emissions, But let's get real, we think too highly of ourselves........

For starters vote out the republicans george bush won,t even admit theres a promblem in the environment, and Mcain would continue his policy.. The democrats are much more serious about this . Really the best thing the US people can do now about the environment issue is get rid of the Republicans .

Because its only on a federal level where big changes can be initiated and it won,t happen period with a Republican government .

GLOBAL WARMING is real and we should definitely do something about it. We could start by stop using air conditioners and refrigerators that gives off CFCs. We could also use bikes for transportation instead of using gasoline-powered transportation. Also, plant more trees and conserve energy.

*Those are the least we could do, so why not do it now?

The four major agencies tracking Earth's temperature, including NASA's Goddard Institute, report that the Earth cooled 0.7 degree Celsius in 2007, the fastest decline in the age of instrumentation, putting us back to where the Earth was in 1930.

Isn't that global cooling?

what will be our help ? keep growing plants. not cutting the trees. tyres and tubes should not be burned. Allowing forest to be a forest, and cutting the forest trees and raising structures should be avoided. we can escape doing these '' some thing '' ...it will be a great help to the nature. Everyone should feel this.

Warming is not the issue. The lack of ozone is.
