Mormonism is shrouded in mystery to most of America, so people are curious. The media is just giving us what we want. Why show a program like "The Biggest Loser" or "Myth Busters"? The answer is that people are curious whether or not a person can really lose 200 pounds and change their life or whether certain unbelievable things they have heard about are true or not. People want to know what the fuss is about Mormonism. Will the other candidates get a chance to give speeches on their faith? Not likely. Unless one of them is Wicca or something more exotic.
After listening to Romney's speech, I find it interesting how he handled his own religion. He said he would not promote Mormonism from the Oval Office but would be "informed" by it. He also claimed that Jesus Christ was the Son of God and savior of all mankind...something that the official doctrine of the LDS church clearly does not agree with. Is he ignorant or deliberately attempting to be misleading? Either way, it's not a good thing. He also compared himself to JFK when JFK said he was not a spokesman for the Catholic church and that his Catholic faith would not impede his executive duty. I believe Romney is sincere in saying he will not push a Mormon agenda when in office, but it is inevitable that his Mormonism will affect how he runs the country because an individual's religion affects every other aspect of their life if they take it seriously at all. The problem here is that JFK was from a Christian tradition that followed the teachings of Jesus Christ as seen in the Holy Bible. The Mormon church, despite its admirable philanthropy, is not in the Christian tradition because of many doctrinal statements that run counter to the teachings of Jesus Christ in the Holy Bible.
Hope that clears things up. Romney has no chance of winning anyway, so it's not a big deal. Even if he gets the Republican nomination, he can't beat Obama or Hillary.

he will choose to get it over early and go someplace to no longer appreciate his 250 million money. What a pity. If I had 250 million, i could make lots of suffering human beings satisfied consisting of myself.

Good point. So much for separation of Church and State. Neo-cons do not seem to pay much attention to the US Constitution.

Yeah, who says they are "giving" him the time? He's got a huge campaign warchest.

Since we are all going to be forced to follow it, it makes sense that we should be informed.
