DHS document: 68,000 illegal immigrants with criminal convictions released in 2013

http://thehill.com/homenews/senate/202142-dhs-document-68000-illegal-immigrants-with-criminal-convictions-released-in#ixzz2xfoUKWgT

Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials last year released 68,000 illegal immigrants with criminal convictions, undercutting Democratic claims that President Obama has strictly enforced immigration laws.

An internal Department of Homeland Security document compiling statistics on arrests and deportations in 2013 showed that ICE agents encountered 193,357 illegal immigrants with criminal convictions but issued charging documents for only 125,478. More than 67,800 were released.

The data came from an end-of-year “Weekly Departures and Detention Report.”

The only objective, verifiable facts in the article are that "ICE agents encountered 193,357 illegal immigrants with criminal convictions but issued charging documents for only 125,478. More than 67,800 were released."

Who those 68K people were and why they were released is the subject of spin and speculation on the ultra-conservative, credibility challenged Center for Immigration Studies. I find it interesting that none of the conservative web sites that parrot what CIS is saying include a link to the actual report put out by immigration.

I do not approve.

Well....that's just so much better. I'm sure an illegal alien who has already ignored the laws against his crossing the border and committed a crime will honor a notice to appear, and won't cut off an ankle bracelet. :oP

Only Liberals/Democrats would approve of such a foolish move.

We caught them once and put them in jails, so now I suppose

they'll go back to their crimes, and we'll have to catch them

again (for no good reason if Obama keeps opening the jail

doors). More mismanagement by this Administration.

LIke all right-wing media, the TRUTH just doesn’t seem to matter much, eh? It’s a “Report,” therefore...

Like the Chris Christie attorney “report” just MUST be true, right?

Here:

"Furthermore, the report claims ICE "released" 68,000 "criminal aliens" yet fails to explain that being released is not the equivalent of being set-free. Being released from ICE custody often means being issued a notice to appear in court, released with an ankle bracelet or released under an order of supervision. These details were conveniently left out of the CIS analysis."

No, Obama's "catch and release" policy is a travesty. And then he adds insult to injury by counting every freed illegal as a "deportation."

Isn't the point of our government to allow non-citizens and anyone else to victimize the innocent? It sure seems that way now. They surveil us with no reason. They watch us with satellites, have given the IRS power to access everyone's bank accounts with no warrant. Criminals are given special rights. Indolence is favored above having a work ethic. ETC.

"At this point what difference does it make anyway"

He is allowing thousands of unarmed invaders to cross our Southern borders every day!

No. However, my voice is not as large as the businesses screaming about their shortage of workers.
