Question:
When will the U.S. minimum wage raise?

Currently in the U.S. minimum wage is $7.25 an hour... Some states are higher of course. However, some states do not have a state min. wage. I am a college student and the last two jobs I have had were all minimum wage and was never introduced to a raise (was always denied due to not having enough? Or something like that). I would go a week working 20 hours or so and only make $120-$140 something a week. How is ANYONE supposed to live off of $120 a week? I mean 12 gallons of gas at $3.39 a gallon that's $40 taken away from the very small paycheck! Then we go to $80... Seriously? When will the U.S. raise the minimum wage? I know raising it to $7.75-$8.00 will not cause a company to go bankrupt. People cannot live off of minimum wage when every other thing is rising! I mean COME ON! A PACK OF DORITOS IS $4.49!

Better question: what sort of marketable skills do you have so that you don't have to resort to a minimum wage job to get by?

Lynn I feel bad for you actually taxing rich people at a high level causes a Pack of Doritos to be $4.49. So may be people don't understand what you are trying to say because they draw Unemployment checks. Inflation has jumped leapes and bounds over pay raises, You see that's why we are in trouble the Federal Governemnt don't want you to succeed. As soon as you finish your Education things will get better. How I know? I have been through rough times.

Raising the minimum wage is discriminatory. It is meant for entry level low skill workers. The higher it goes, higher skill workers are attracted thus shoving low skill workers out the door.

Better watch out for what you ask for. You might get it. Then you may be living on even less.

Hyperinflation will hit anytime now and minimum wage will increase ,,,, a loaf of bread or a gallon of gas will be $15.00 but you'll make $2.00 an hour more.

You don't.

You get your degree. And get a better paying job.

And you don't buy Doritos.

And if the business doesn't have enough money now, how do you expect them to pay everyone across the board more? Yeah...that's right, they lay someone off.

Wow, that's crazy.... In Canada, its up near about 10 bucks an hour, and even THAT is still kinda low.

Not to mention, our dollar is about at par with the American dollar, so you guys ARE getting royally screwed down there.
