Iraq’s foreign minister said Tuesday that the United States had agreed to lift immunity for foreign security contractors operating in Iraq, making them subject to prosecution under Iraqi law, according to Iraqi politicians.

How can GWB agree to this? Does Bush hate America?

bush created the problem, it's about time those responsible for crimes against innocent civilians in Iraq were held responsible.

Some day in the not too distant future I hope to see bush held responsible for the crimes he is responsible for as well.

Either Iraq is an American protectorate, where American law prevails, or it is a an independent sovereign state where Iraqi law prevails. You can't have it both ways. If America recognizes Iraq as an independent sovereign state, then Americans (when in Iraq) are subject to Iraqi law.

Are you seriously suggesting that Americans travelling and doing business abroad should have some sort of special immunity from the laws of the nations in which they travel? Does this work both ways, so that visitors to the USA aren't subject to American laws?

I absolutely agree with it, why should contractors from the U.S. be able to do whatever they please in Iraq, and not be held accountable for it (aside from possible deportation back to the U.S., if severe enough, I would imagine, but no charges would still be pressed in the United States)? And George Bush doesn't really have a choice, the Iraqi government and people do not want U.S. citizens to be able to do whatever they want without control and it is completely unfair for us to ask that we require that as terms of SOFA.

Absolutely and it was NOT GW Bush's decision.

Iraq, as a sovereign nation, demanded the right to prosecute foreigners in their country. Bush only agreed because he seeks to keep US forces in Iraq AFTER the UN mandate expires.

If they are in Iraq and they break the law then of course they should face prosecution in Iraqi courts..

If we can't trust them(Iraqis) with their own legal system, how can we EVER trust them to run their own country?.....we might as well just end the whole charade, and completely take over Iraq...or leave.

Yes, Buzsh hates America. Isn't it obvious by now?

Ah well, so much for shooting up innocent Iraqi civilians with impunity. Good times while it lasted, though.

Yep

Remember the Okinawa rape case a couple years ago. The US soldier that raped a child was tried in Okinawa Courts

If you can't do the time don't do the crime.
