Question:
Will elections in Iran make any difference as long as the Ayatollah has supreme power?

The Ayatollah and his counsel of unlected and unimpeachable mullahs can overturn anything Iran's president or parliament does, and they control who can and cannon run, so what difference will elections make?

Well the Ayatollah and his counsel are indirectly elected by people ( Appointed and confirmed by elected officials) and according to 111th Article of Iran's constitution the supreme leader or the Ayatollah could be impeached as well.

This election will change things a little because it could change the image of the president of Iran ( because Ahmadinejad is clearly unpopular in US and a new face could change a lot in people's minds) + presidents have a little bit of power and influence in Iran( but Just a little).

No, whoever is elected is merely a puppet governor. Like you said they have no real power because of the nature of their government.

We have three separate branches that check and balance each other, conversely in the Iranian government the supreme counsel checks all other branches while no other branch checks it. The only way for change to come is for the supreme council to enact the change (highly unlikely) or for the people of iran to force a change in government.

Comparison to our supreme court is inane, we fear our court has too much power as it is and they cant even scratch the surface of what the mullahs can do.

Unfortunately not. There is little chance of real reform in Iran at this time. Imadinajacket may not get re-elected but whoever beats him will not represent "real change". He will be just another puppet of the Ayatollah.

you have an unelected and unimpeachable counsel on the supreme court who can overturn any thing from the executive or the legislative. Which in actuality is quite similar to some religious council. Either way i don't care how thier system is run. it is no surprise to me that a non western country doesn't have a western style govt and i don't expect them to. they can pick thier leaders from a hat if they want.

It won't make much difference since Iran is really a religous dictatorship. Their old emperor was better than what they have now.

Texans are really envious of Iran. The Republican Party wishes they could turn Texass into a little Christian Republic of Texass controlled by the leaders of the SBC where torture is allowed, the death sentence is heavily used especially for religious infractions, prayers and church attendance is mandated by the state, and no one but straight white christian males have any rights.
