Condoleeza Rice announced today on face the Nation that we are moving to help the Georgians rebuild. More no bid contracts... :) CNN panned through the streets of Ossetia and showed tanks, trucks and other hardware destroyed in the middle of the street... Georgian tanks??? How did they get there. If Russia was the first to attack then how did the Georgian tanks get into Ossetia. Not that Russia can necessarily be trusted, but with a 9 trillion dollar debt and an economy collapsing at home and the dollar falling through the floor, and us already being in two wars, Can you afford to open up you wallet to fix this Georgian fiasco? What ever happened to pay yourself first. John McCains mentality is "we are all Georgians now". John also refused to take a military response off the table.. We can't solve the worlds problems sticking a bayonet up their butt. We have to start letting the world solve its problems and take care of our own... but then again there are those lucrative no bid contracts WE pay for.

South Ossetia belongs to Georgia. Russia started this mess originally back in 1992 by financing/arming/supporting South Ossetian rebels loyal to Russia.

Russia then had the audacity to give these loyalists Russian CITIZENSHIP some time later. That's one of the reasons why they came to the aid of the rebels a few days back.

Russia set Georgia up, and we've known they would do this for many years.

We need to stand up to Russia and aid our friends in Georgia. Their territorial integrity is at stake thanks to Russian arrogance and Russian lack of self esteem.

we still have many options. the G-8 is important to Russia and it's economy. it might have oil resources but need the money generated from sales. there are other options too that can be explored IF the EU realizes what is a stake in their future. we will have to wait and see how it plays out.

i have friends in Russia and know first hand how it has changed under Putin's rule. they no longer have a free press and all opposition is silenced by jail or death. they live a very minimal existance. they are my daughter in law's relatives. here, our poor are considered rich by their standards.

McCain was speaking of the larger issue of a soverign nation being invaded and the suffering that insued for all it's citizens.

what Putin has done out of mostly revenge and muscle flexing is the equivalent of him saying that Cslifornia should be free and separate from the USA. all people of mexican dissent will be issues Mexican passports and then will declare that they are under his protection. they declared their independence from the USA. then he sends in 10,000 'peacekeepers' to protect their rights. he kills or jails anyone who opposes him.

when some of the people in California do not want their 'peacekeepers; and trouble starts over this fact, he sends in his overpowering troops, weapons, and bombs everything in site and the people with it. then he goes on to nevada and arizona and occupies them too.

this is the basic scenario as to that has happened in Georgia, the entry as they are western and wanted to join with NATO and is supported by the west. to a point that is but it is shame that we are not in a potions to respond more directly due to our independence on foreign oil now. one more reason why we need to be more independent like they are now.

i think that contracts are the least of our worries.

you might want to look at Obama's pending bill in the Senate and see how he is planning massing taxes to the UN for the benefit of the third world. can we afford that either...S 2433

The interpretation of Mccain's statement "We are all Georgians Now" means nothing more than we as a country understand their sovereignty and the fact that it has been attacked! Right now a wait and see attitude is all we can afford but I am certain Putin, ex KGB, has all intentions of re-establishing Russia as a super power.

same thing the russians did when we liberated kuwatti

you see the georgians launched the attack..

the georgians invaded an autonomous territory inhabited by russians..

all the russians did was come to their aid.. just like we did in kuwatti...

except we came to the aid of a corrupt dicatatorship we have installed and kept in power in kuwatti.. a country where defacto slavery exists...

while the russians came to the aid of a democracy.. people who just want the right of self determination

you must watch fox news...

and we wont even talk about the us invasion of iraq... cus that makes me pissed that we let the nwo and cia rig our elections and install the bush puppet for the international bankers and oil companys and other war profiteers...

my kudos to the russians for defending democracy around the world

my distain for georgia for invading an independant people..

and my disgust for bush.. and the american media that are bullcrapping the us population .. again...

i see you don't want the U.S to honor alliances. as the world's strongest military power, and with so many enemies, we can't just sit back and let all of the world's problems be solved without us. to answer your initial question, to confront this aggression we make stern rules and promise military action as a consequence. you don't need troops on the ground to fight a war. to take on Russia, just bomb, bomb, and bomb some more. its time to use our ICBMs for once.

Maybe we should give "minding our own business" a try! Just because we have the biggest sword does not mean we should be waving it around at everyone with whom we disagree. You don't have to be an isolationist to be pragmatic.

First you turn your CNN off, and then research the truth to this conflict.
