Why is OBAMA and his pals now pushing for immediate troops withdrawal????

When in 2004, Obama said that a quick withdrawal from Iraq would be "a slap in the face" to the troops. And in 2006, he said that he did "not believe that setting a date certain for the total withdrawal of U.S. troops [was] the best approach to achieving" our goals.

General Patraeus is on the move with this surge and is set to report back in September to see what the next move should be... With our troops on the move, the democrats throw a pajama party to attempt to pull the rug out from under them.

Actually it is even worse than that, in Obama's website he says ......



"is working to ensure that the nation's defense capabilities are strong, agile, and prepared and that our troops are provided with the equipment they need."



HE OBVIOUSLY does not think the troops need the right equipment in Iraq and the frontline in Iraq is the nations defense, better to fight the enemy over there than here, I guess thats way over his head. Anyway he voted against the emergency Iraq spending bill, so he and his ilk the rest of the democrats are playing with the lives of US soldiers, they are more responsible with their cowardly actions than anyone else.



In May of this year, Obama promised to provide critical funding for the troops. His exact words:



"[W]hat you don't want to do is to play chicken with the President, and create a situation in which, potentially, you don't have body armor, you don't have reinforced Humvees, you don't have night-vision goggles."



Then, just weeks later, he voted against the emergency Iraq spending bill that would have provided critical funds for body armor, mine resistant vehicles, and to help combat IEDs.



By his own admission, Obama understands that our enemies will wait us out in Iraq.



But, with today's comments, it seems clear that he's more concerned with pandering to the left wing of the party than standing by his previous statements.

Two possible explanations:

1. he is just swaying to satisfy the popular sentiment.

2. he has actually changed his mind. In three years (since 2004), the situation has deteriorated leading to a last ditch effort in the Troop Surge. The "pajama party" would not affect the surge at all, but only the post-surge situation. Would the U.S. stand down largely or return to 2005 numbers? It would be nice if Obama were doing it for this second reason and simply because someone changes their mind is no reason to judge them harshly (Romney and McCain have changed on a number of issues through thought and reflection).



What is important then is that we push him and others to explain why they changed. If it is honest reflection and consideration of new evidence, good for them. If it is political pandering, ditch them.

Are you talking about the legislation that failed in the Senate? it called for troops to be pulled out over the next year, beginning in 120 days. how is that an immdeiate withdrawal? I don't think anyone in their right mind still thinks this will be a successful campaign. Some are just willing to vote their conscience, as opposed to people like Warner from Va., who complains about the course of the war but continue to vote for out troops to come home in bodybags

This is 2007. The strategies of the Bush administration have been given many opportunities. The patience of most has been completely eroded. We could be in the same situation a year from now, or two years from now, or indefinitely.



There has been no viable plan, no progress, no exit strategy and there is no end in sight. Our representatives are supposed to reflect the will of the American people and the American people are demanding an end to this war.
