Question:
Just out of curiosity: How many of who support going to war would volunteer to join?

I don't know if this is supposed to be humorous point, though it is very obvious: There is a string of Republican officials who support going to war in other countries but wouldn't volunteer themselves or their children to these conflicts.

Bush narrowly avoided going to Vietnam, yet he supported that war effort. This is an excerpt of an interview of his former Harvard professor from Salon.com:

"Bush expressed strong support for the war but admitted to Tsurumi that he’d gotten a coveted spot in the Texas Air National Guard through his father’s connections.

“Here was Bush, wearing a Texas Guard bomber jacket, and the draft was the No. 1 topic in those days. And I said, ‘George, what did you do with the draft?’ He said, ‘Well, I got into the Texas Air National Guard.’ And I said, ‘Lucky you. I understand there is a long waiting list for it. How’d you get in?’ When he told me, he didn’t seem ashamed or embarrassed. He thought he was entitled to all kinds of privileges and special deals. He was not the only one trying to twist all their connections to avoid Vietnam. But then, he was fanatically for the war.”

Tsurumi told Bush that someone who avoided a draft while supporting a war in which others were dying was a hypocrite. “He realized he was caught, showed his famous smirk and huffed off.”

The same applies to Gingrich and Cheney, both avoided the Vietnam War by exhausting their deferments.

Actually George Bush volunteered to deploy to Vietnam were he would have been flying combat missions under the Palace Alert program. He was to junior without enough flying hours to qualify. About one in four Vietnam era veterans actually served in Vietnam. Bush served, which is more than can be said for Gingrich and Cheney (or Sylvester Stallone...Rambo himself).

Limbaugh had a medical deferment due to his weight problem. Something I can identify with. I failed my physical when I was drafted in 1968. Obesity. Before I grew up to be a fat man I was a fat kid. I was golden. I didn't have to go to college to get a deferment. I didn't have to burn my draft card. I didn't have to pretend I was gay. I didn't have to run away to Canada. Only problem was, I supported the Truman Doctrine and understood why we were fighting in SEA. So, I enlisted in the US Air Force. Turned out I was to fat to be drafted, but not to fat to volunteer. Basic was physical hell for me, I was in poor physical shape. But I bulled my way through and severed a tour in Vietnam as a medic in 1969/70 (and two more years in South Korea).

So, in answer to your basic question..."How many of who support going to war would volunteer to join...?" I would. I DID...!?!?!?!

particular this is hypocritical...yet some human beings would be unable to serve for one reason or yet another...would not count number in the event that they have a job, a family members, or what. this is their prerogative. Why might you care if somebody is a hypocrite or no longer? Why might you enable it effect your life? i can sit down right here and insult liberals (such as you) jointly as observing fox information, risking no longer something, because of the fact I actual have served my usa already, and (in comparison to you, while you're a soldier) proudly. To me, you only sound like a whiny, little witch, who won't stay with a determination YOU made. while you're truly an American Soldier, then you definately're a shame to the uniform you place on, and that i'm embarrassed to correctly known of you. Be a consultant...do your activity...do it with satisfaction.

Bill Clinton also dodged the draft. Obama has zero military service, even though there was no war by the time he graduated from high school.

I don't hope for war, but it could be the only way I ever get another job that pays well enough to live on.

I would only support a war that happened from an attack on US shores. Anything else is another self centered politicians obstruction of justice.

No.

But you didn't bring up Clinton going to Canada and 0bama has pushed war into 2 more countries.

I would fight any country to defend America, but it would have to be a war that we would actually have to fight, unlike the ones we're in now.
