Question:
In order for gun control advocates to be successful: Do they have to convince us Uzi = semi-automatic rifle?

Referring to fully automatic Uzis.

I've notice more than a few people seem to think that fully automatic weapons are easily available at places like Wal-Mart.

Is the idea of the gun-control message machine to conflate REAL assault weapons with semi-automatic rifles that wouldn't stand a chance against the REAL assault weapons?

No.

The Constitution-haters will win with emotion and hate, not with facts, common sense or the truth.

Full auto weapons require special licensing from BATF. Sure, the gang-bangers have them but we law-abiding citizens do not because (*we*) would go to jail for a LOOONG time over a weapons charge like that.

Not so much for the gang-bangers. A couple of days, lose the weapon to the throw-down stock, and get another the day they get out of lockup.

Full auto weapons are not easy for law-abiding citizens to obtain since those who vend such weapons will not trust a "straight" guy so no Uzi or Sten or whatever.

That being said, a marksman with a semi-auto, bolt-action, or somesuch will almost always win over a "spray and pray" amateur with a fast but uncontrolled full auto weapon.

The average person advocating gun control has never fired a weapon before in their life. There's a picture of Diane Feinstein breaking every single firearm safety rule with an AK47, comparing her with a 10 year old girl exhibiting proper muzzle and trigger discipline. These are people who are trying to regulate something they know absolutely nothing about. They want to ban safety features, for crying out loud.

A skilled shooter with a semi-automatic weapon would almost always win over a less skilled shooter with a fully automatic weapon

We have some dumb-*** Democrat representative of the area encompassing downtown Columbus, Ohio (not my district, thank God), who went on and on about how she would do her best to ensure automatic weapons were made illegal.

That's the kind of person deciding how the 2nd Amendment will be dissected.
