Situation in the middle east is a total hell unfortunately but is there a chance , in the further future that Arabic nations start uniting into one federation, much as it is the case in EU ?
I think that when the oil loses on its importance in the next 50 years , and it will, due to alternative renewable sources of energy that they will see the importance of cooperation and unity.
The other thing, I think that the "only true" form of democracy isn't as one in the USA or Europe, but we are fairly close to it. Each culture acomodates democracy , if it achieves in the first place, to itself not towards some ideal western model. Can arabic states achieve total secularisation ( divide state from curch) in the future?

Tnx.

I am sure that media will, if it looses the bias formats, bring all nations to the truth. Democracy is the youngest experiment for government. It may not prove itself over well established religion. Religions are all myths to find spirituality. The truth is that spirituality is has no room for science and /or Government. If spiritual leaders could bring peace to the world we would all be happy, religious people have had 2,000 years to do it. Democracy has had a few hundred. It is just insanity to give religions political power. I am for every religions right to worship as they wish. Let the governments have the same chance. There is just frustration in the why it is we war and kill.

It is already there and it is already in the prcoess of getting to the state of the EU maybe faster than you think. Not as a ME nation but the GCC, gulf cooperation most of which are extremely wealthy countries popping up skyscrapers faster than you can say achoo! Currently the GCC countries are strengthening their infrastructure while working on gaining touristic means of attractions such as the UAE did with Dubai. There is no need to implement a western civilization on arab countries because it will only cause a disaster like Iraq for example! The GCC have been working very well together and th quality of life over there is better than most western states.

The Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (Arabic: مجلس التعاون لدول الخليج), also Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) (مجلس التعاون الخليجي) is a trade bloc involving the six Arab Gulf states with many economic and social objectives.

Created on May 25, 1981, the Council comprises Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The unified economic agreement between the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council was signed on 11 November 1981 in Riyadh. These countries are often referred to as Gulf Cooperative Countries.[1]

Not all of the countries neighbouring the Persian Gulf are members of the council. Iran is deliberately excluded,[2], and "up to 2003, Iraq acted as a security barrier for the Gulf Arab states against Iran."[3] Yemen is currently (as of 2006) in negotiations for GCC membership, and hopes to join by 2016.[4]

Among the stated objectives are:

* formulating similar regulations in various fields such as economy, finance, trade, customs, tourism, legislation, and administration;

* fostering scientific and technical progress in industry, mining, agriculture, water and animal resources;

* establishing scientific research centres;

* setting up joint ventures;

* encouraging cooperation of the private sector;

* strengthening ties between their peoples; and

* establishing a common currency by 2010, the Khaleeji.

If only the Arabs follow the true Islamic teachings.

1. All races or nations are equal.

2. What said in Quran are examples & guidance. There is NOTHING to do with today's Jews & Christians.

3. Unite, & use all resources today prudently for tomorrow. More investment abroad.

It's a good idea, but that region is only going backwards in time. How can you unite these countries when the most of these countries can't get along with their fellow countrymen. I wish it were possible. The terrorist threat would be down and the knowledge of what a little give and take can do to create unity would be extremely beneficial to the entire planet.

You know that the rich Gulf Arab dictatorships are our friends and allies and if they would allow democracy, they would not hold power in the future. Maybe one day when oil runs out, there might be possibilities. On the other hand, Arabs don't really like each other anyway.

Do you think the US is trying to force US democracy on Iraq? I am just not understanding you. And oil will not be important in 50 years?

Is that what I have been missing in the liberal mind?

historically, Arabs are slaved by every world power. Only Islam freed them and Islam will free them one day.
