Question:
Do you not want a black president?

I see the scrutiny Obama is under (mainly through the questions on here) and it's confusing to me. Strictly from a Democratic standpoint he seems like the best "man" for the job. People are saying things like " he makes me sick". Huh!? He's not perfect by any means but he still strikes me as genuine. What is it that REALLY bothers you about him? If it's his race please be honest with me and yourself.

What bothers me is:

- His inexperience

- The tendency of many of his supporters to accuse anyone who doesn't support him of being racist regardless of the many legitamite reasons they have for not supporting him.

- Michelle Obama's attitude.

- Reverend Wright.

- Obama's extreme left politics.

I do want to have a black president one day. But I feel Obama sends lots of mixed messages and a 100% pleaser to his party and make the party happy, I don't see what he really stands on for. I know he wants to be a somebody larger than life. On a long list of what he has said ,or what he offers on his ideas on the policy, these ideas are wishy washy ones, not real solutions. All he wants is to have every(legislature) bills to be taxed by tax payers to build the funds for. For instance, one of tax propsosal of Obama's, I don't feel right to pay my tax to bail out the homeowner's mortgage when the home owners signed their documents without read the fine print or don't understand or don't plan out what they get into it before buying their homes. I am not mean on that. I do like people. My husband and I almost had a hard time to get the credit to buy our first house unless had co buyer on our first house, but we still had to ask every questions to be sure what we were going into as we bought the house and be sure how we handle the bills while to have the mortgage. How much you make and etc... If you buy the house at higher price, and you make less, you are going to have a trouble to pay all of bill and mortgage altogether.

Other issues on dometic front and National Defense, I disagree with Obama's as well. Obama changed several times. He tells the audiences differently in different states as he campaigns at. Basically, I use my consicience and judgement on how Obama sees things and how he thinks. If Colin Powell been in race today, I would vote for him over him. I would still vote for a black woman as President too. It is the candidate's history and resume I look at. I really rather to have someone who has more experience in White House. I cannot afford to have a weak President while deals things unsure at this time of the year, especially raise taxes with high inflation coming down the road. It will lead to real recession, if Obama chooses his proposals that way. It is real based on my not voting for Obama. Not because on his color of race and it is more than that for me not to vote for Obama.

Sorry, its not his race, although if I keep hearing about that from his supporters I will take it personally.

Its his lack of experience on the world stage, the national stage even the Washington stage. Every phase works a little differently, you have to know who to pump and who to avoid and who to make nice to so things move smoothly.

He hasn't been there long enough to know this on his own, hes owed no favors, hasn't been there long enough.

He really thinks he can bring about change in various sometimes nonspecific ways, but its a beaurocracy that changes slowly. If he can't recognize this much hes going to be in big trouble, as are we, since the next years will determine the fate of our country.

Hes too liberal for the majority of the country, too idealistic.

We can't afford that right now, we need a tough person who doesn't care much if you love them or not.

McCain is kowtowing to the right, showing himself to be someone who will give up their lifes reputation for the brass ring. Hillary is just as prickly as shes ever been, working her backside off for a couple of votes, just like she did in NY, she didn't miss a single opportunity to see and be seen, even in small towns and hamlets.

I don't care about the color, or the sex, or if I want to have a beer with the next president, I just want a hard worker who knows the facts cold and will do the unpopular because its what we need to do. Thats Hillary, not Obama, not McCain.

I want a GOOD president.

I really don't care what color he or she is. Just do the job properly. I don't think lack of experience is a factor. His democratic opponent has more experience being first lady than a US Senator and she doesn't have much more senator experience than Obama. Lack of experience can be looked upon as a strength as he hasn't been currupted or bought by lobbiests yet. I will not vote for McCain, because I've seen enough of people like him and that lousy son of a bush that is running things into the ground. I will not vote for Clinton because I don't feel she brings anything to the table. She tries way too hard to convince people she is something that she is not. Obama for me is the best choice availble, though I wish Gore would have run. I really hope people vote for who they think can do the job, instead of just allowing anyone to get in. Thank you for the question.

I'd be fine with a good one, I wouldn't be happy with obama winning but I would definitely pray for him. What has bothered me the most about him is how upset he got when the supreme court allowed states to restrict partial birth abortion (which is pretty much impaling infants).

"I strongly disagree with today's Supreme Court ruling, which dramatically departs from previous precedents safeguarding the health of pregnant women. As Justice Ginsburg emphasized in her dissenting opinion, this ruling signals an alarming willingness on the part of the conservative majority to disregard its prior rulings respecting a woman's medical concerns and the very personal decisions between a doctor and patient.

I am extremely concerned that this ruling will embolden state legislatures to enact further measures to restrict a woman's right to choose, and that the conservative Supreme Court justices will look for other opportunities to erode Roe v. Wade, which is established federal law and a matter of equal rights for women."

After Bush I'd prefer an intelligent president. Obama was a law professor, and seemingly an extremely genuine and caring person. After law school he could have joined any corporation and got paid. Instead he became a community organizer. He helped people that would otherwise not have an opportunity to attend college, many of them have become new taxpayers thus re-paying their debt and no longer being our liabilities. You should read his book, "The Audacity of Hope", you can make up your own mind, just don't be misled by these hoo hoos, they want triillion dollar wars, they just don't know how to pay for them.

It wouldn't matter if the guy was pink. He is not presidential. Just because we vote against an idiot we don't like, doesn't mean we are racist. Stop pulling the race card. It's getting old and is going to start back firing very soon.

My opposition to Obama is that he is a creation of the liberal media. He is being crammed down the American people's throat mainly because they believe Hillary is not electable. Otherwise my only postion is that he does not have much of a backgorund to be President regardless of his race or religion. Do I think he is a crook? No. But I am disconcerted by the prospect of one party rule, i.e. a Democatric congress and executive branch. We briefly had one-party rule under Bush got us Iraq.

Whoever you are, I agree wholeheartedly with you---because the scrutinity and accusations about Obama and his wife are mostly not even founded in something valid. Those are ususally the people who are totally uncomfortable with the idea of a black man holding the highest job in the nation---they don't want to admit that it is his skin tone that bothers them---so they find all sorts of non-sense and half-true reasons, or even outright lies to reject him. That's what Obama talked about that there still is racism going on on an unconscious level---and most Americans never even realize that. I piti them, because if you can drop the skin color issue and really look at the person in front of you you might just find out what the true thing is---because love for each other is all we have in this lifetime---money and materialistic stuff can go down the drain, but the love for our fellow human beings, our friends, and our family---that's what sustains us. And so when I look at Obama(and Clinton), I think that she has the better health care plan---but that he could be just the best thing that ever happened to America.....

I want a POTUS I can be PROUD of, regardless of their race OR gender!

What bothers me about Obama is his liberal views... period!

You said, "STOP saying it's not his race!!!!! It may not be for YOU but you can't speak for the WHOLE anti-Obama crowd can you?" Well... why are YOU speaking for ME? You want my opinion, I give it. Then you say my opinion, if it's NOT race-based, is invalid? Catch-22 here!

Have a right-wing day.

I'd love to have a QUALIFIED black president.

This black candidate (Obama) isn't.....

EDIT: "STOP saying it's not his race!!!!! It may not be for YOU but you can't speak for the WHOLE anti-Obama crowd can you?"

YOU cannot speak for the WHOLE pro-Obama crowd either.

There are black people who voted for Obama just because he's black just like there are white people who voted for McCain because he's white. You are speaking in absolutes. It is the language of the racist....

I guess you like genuine socialists then.

Honestly, how blind can a person be? He HATES America, and don't give me that, Well why is he running for President crap. How do YOU know he'll keep all his promises if elected into office? How do you know all his words are a lot of hot air that will dissapate once he takes the oath. Take a look at his voting records, his personal background, and his utter hypocrisy.

It's not the color of his skin, it's his lack of experience, especially in the foreign arena that troubles me. I also feel the media promotes his candidacy because they see him as fresh meat where Hillary and McCain are yesterday news. We should not vote for or against anyone because of the color of their skin. Those who will vote against him because he is black will be balanced by those who vote for him because he is black.

How can he be genuine when he lied about not knowing how racist his pastor is? Come on now. You don't hang out with someone for twenty years and not know their likes and dislikes. If anything Obama in not being genuine to himself. America does not need a disingenuous president.

As long as it's not Obama. I'd vote for Colin Powell in a heartbeat. How can you think Obama is genuine???? He's told so many lies and is so Anti-American it's awful. You need to wake up and start reading between the lines.

For me, it has NOTHING to do with the fact that he is black. It is all of his skeletons in the closet that scare me most. I do realize that MOST politicians stretch the truth, he however has stretched it to the breaking point.

I don't like his politics. I wouldn't care if he's purple. Why do people think it's a race issue if you don't want to vote for Obama/??? His race has nothing to do with my opinion. I don't like Hillary's politics either and I am a white woman.

I have no problems with a black President, just not Obama. I was hoping Rice would run, but she wasn't interested. What is it about Obama that makes him so appealing to you? His racist remarks about whites and Jews? His socialist tendencies? His abysmal voting record in the Senate? His lack of experience? Or are you supporting him just because he is black?

are you really this stupid? ive never seen someone say they hate him because hes black. maybe its because hes a liar, plans on completely disarming us from nukes, cutting military spending in half, stopping further military development, and all the idiotic "misspoken phrases". not to mention his pastor and wife are anti american and racist. he called white people bitter and clingy to guns and religion. hes inexperienced and wants to go to war with pakistan whos ally is china. is that enough for u or u want more?

He's a Socialist. He's more to the left than any other person in Congress. He has no experience in anything including Military. He's somewhat anti-american.

Bad choice for Commander in Chief.

Color doesn't matter.

I'll take Obama because I don't ever want another Clinton or Bush in office and McCain is identical to Bush.

Obama is the best candidate for the position.
