Question:
I have a few family members who are Republicans...?
?

They were all making racist statements in the Obama/Mccain election about Obama (and his supporters), and continued this up until January this year. Following inauguration in January, I have since heard from them that it is the minorities, and liberals that are racist and that they are not, and never have been.

It's obviously just a tactic... Has anyone else experienced this phenomena.... and if so, how do you handle family members that partake in these dishonest and dirty partisan tactics?

well my life is full of those people and I found only one reaction that works, either laugh or cry. You can't controll your friends or familly, but you can infulence them by good example. They aren't (usually) bad people.

well, i dont like republicans or "liberals"(which arent real liberals, example thomas jefferson was al iberal and obama is nothing like what jefferson said or did) anyways this isnt a very smart question because the democrats pulled the racist card throughout the whole election too, they pretty much would say that if you didnt vote for obama then your a racist. also alot of obama's assiociates are crooks with no morals, not to say that mccain is any better.

my advice is to forget that their is only two parties in america and start using write-ins and third parties. no offence but both parties are very socialist nowadays and their both morons, but democrats just take things too far alot of times. and being non biased towards either party i would say that democrats are actually the more assholey and communistic party and they are the meanest. Example is if you dont agree wit hthem then you are satan, at least the right wing hillbillies listen to people.

Well to a certain extent they might be right. Just because someone is what we call a "minority" does not exclude them from being racist. I've known plenty of whites who hate other races, I've also known plenty of Mexicans who hate other races, along with blacks, and Asians. It is a cultural thing that we cling to. Stupid really. I also know of some Republicans who are minorities, some Dems who are white and minority.

The fact is that we are all the same with similar beliefs and wants. We just go about obtaining them in different ways, many of which are wrong.

Americans are stupid, especially the ones who continue to make race an issue and give race issues the time and effort of being thought about and noticed. Think about what racism is. In your post, you are leading that racism is discrimination against ones color of skin and segregating white republicans as racists. That is racism in itself. Democrats who refuse to consider an idea or issue simply because it came from a Republican is a form of racism and it can work both ways.

Racism is lame, continuing to talk about it and make it an issue is lame. But you should never throw stones at a glass house when you live in one yourself.

We need to stop being petty and ignorant and start being productive. We need to either create a true "progressive party" or start forcing our elected officials to start acting progressive. The fighting and b i t c h ing needs to stop.

I know people who are Republicans, but It's mostly online and in the media that I get what you describe in your question, something I like to call "racism baiting."

If you do a search on the word "racism" in politics & government, you will come up mostly with questions accusing Obama, liberals, Democrats, black people, etc., with racism, or with some baseless claim that anyone who criticizes Obama is called a racist.

Here are seven of the first ten results I got on my search (limited to the last seven days for timeliness)

# Why do white Liberals project their own racism on to others?

# How can anyone cry "racism" at Conservatives when BO is half white and black? Can't white's claim the same?

# Since when did disagreeing with the President become racism?

# Is the media's treatment of racism another example of liberal bias?

# Are people really upset over supposed "racism" or are they faking it for support and power?

# How is it some obama supporters can clearly SEE racism but be so BLIND to a radical agenda?

# Isn't it fear, ignorance and cowardice that drives Democrats when they accuse opponents of Obama of racism?

Look, opposing Obama because he is black is just as racist as supporting him because of it. This means labeling racism on either side is just wrong. You don't know what people are thinking and they don't know what you're thinking. Just because a few people are racist from a certain group of people doesn't mean you can stereotype the whole group. You both are wrong and they were just pointing a different point of view for you.

Do you only support Obama because he's black? Probably not.

Do you think they only oppose him because he's black? Probably not.

After all, you did say they were Republicans meaning they're going to oppose any Democrat regardless of their race.

I have witnessed a great deal of racist behavior from Libs and blacks ( not minorities in general).

I suspect 0bama's racism and his association with the likes of Van Jones and Rev. Wright give Libs and blacks the impression this stuff is cool.

I've experienced the opposite. My husbands side of the family have always been Democrats, and still are. But during the primaries they said things like "Nobody here would ever vote for a ****"

Having a racist like you in their family is probably a huge disappointment to them.

I'm not sure how they should deal with your racism. People like you rarely change, rarely become decent members of society. But they're your family, maybe they stick with you.

To discuss politics or religion is a sure way to start a heated discussion which can turn into nasty arguments. When it comes to family and close friends, I will not discuss this issue when I see the heat rising.

No, but I have seen that obama sat in the front pew for 20 years of a racist church led by a hate mongering racist pastor. I've also seen black panthers holding billy clubs standing in front of polling places. I've also seen that obama appoints men like van jones (who is an admitted black supremacist and communist) to czar positions. I have also seen that obama has his rezko connection.

Want me to go on? Because the list just gets bigger and bigger. I've experienced THAT.

Sure, but today they are correct. The "minorities" have more racists today. I wonder what percentage of your Republicans said what you call "racist;" but I'll assume what you claim is true and not just your bigotry.

Regardless, what's your point? Is your point bigoted? are you implying most people who object to Obama do it for racial reasons and not because of his socialist policies?

If you are, that's a lie. You are obviously astute enough to know it's because of the socialism.

It happens on both sides, if you can look at your self and say you are not racist that's all that counts. If some one is racist you can not change their minds.
2009-09-16 11:15:31 UTC
I am a Republican and I didn't make racist statements about 0bama yet I have been called racist by people like yourself.

I think your little story is a lie.

Be patient. You can't change them.

You will be able to move away one day and ignore them.

I guarantee you have no family, and if you do, none of them are Republicans, and if they are, none of them are making any racially-motivated statements about Obama.

But kudos for the trolling attempt. 2/10

If you dig deep enough and follow the dialog of Liberals you will find the racism entrenched very deep
