Glenn Beck and the far out right media is making this country crazy.Far right corporate news is scaring the sh#t out of this country that is loaded with firearms. This stuff has got to stop before another civil war begins.People that watch Fox news all the time, like some people do,are killing people and committing suicide more and more.America is in trouble and as a disable veteran we need to bring our troops home from both wars and start investing in OUR COUNTRY instead of others. This country needs to pull together and this kind of psycho talk is making people nuts. What's your opinion?

Just in case you happened to miss Hardball last night on MSNBC, Chris Matthews' special report, The Rise of the New Right , was one of those rare (these days) moments of essential viewing that we would be wise not to ignore. It will probably be repeated several times in the next few weeks and I urge you to keep your eye out for it. Seriously, if Matthews doesn't get an Emmy for this program there is no justice in this world.

The program is the most comprehensive look yet (at least on non-public television) at the crack-up the Conservative movement in this country is now going through. Let's face some serious facts here, boys and girls: The right wing in this country has always been (since the days of the Confederacy and before) a tad crazy - not to mention dumber than doggy doo doo. What is happening to them now is beyond anything in their long and entertainingly weird history. In effect they've totally lost it. Here's a quaint little soundbite from last night's program that illustrates perfectly what I'm talking about. The words were uttered by some pathetic, bat ****-crazy woman at last year's "March on Washington":

"We are losing our country. We think the Muslims are moving in and taking over. We do not believe our president is a Christian - and he let us believe that. The president is a liar. God bless Joe Wilson."

Isn't that sweet? I assume she is not referring to the same "Joe Wilson" who is married to Valerie Plame. Once upon a time people this - "ill informed" shall we say? - were to be found mostly on the fringes of the American political scene. Not even in the days of old Joe McCarthy did it get this strange - not on such a national level anyway. Back in the good ol' days, the type of behavior we are witnessing today was pretty much restricted to KKK rallies in the deep south and the editorial offices of the Wall Street Journal. A half a century ago political extremism hadn't yet gone mainstream. It has now. In fact it's ready for prime time! For this we can all thank the nice people at FOX Noise.

It was Rupert Murdoch's "News Group" that promoted this movement from their inception. Murdoch himself has denied this accusation over and over again, but the videotapes are there - and video doesn't lie - unless, of course, it's a taped replay of a typical Sean Hannity program. The Plutocracy, with FOX as its propaganda arm, has brilliantly managed to convince a huge segment of the American public - a lot of whom could barely be qualified as middle class - that the problem with this country is all those damned, bleeding heart Liberals. The question needs to be put to them: "Where were you assholes when George W. Bush was driving this nation into the economic ditch?"

-Rush Limbaugh

Ah, yes! The language of inferred violence! It's out there, folks. They're not reporting it on FOX but it's out there....

read your stuff and thank you for your service, it's foolish to blame the guy at the light switch for the roaches. I do think there is a painful double standard in media coverage between Bush and Obama. People screaming for impeachment with Bush and strangely silent when Obama does the exact thing if not worse. Your sources are really good at name calling but fall a little shy on the facts. I do not see the mounting body counts you speak of and neither side is calling for the withdrawal of our troops. We all want the country to pull together but until we agree on a direction that will not happen. I can lay blame as well as the next guy and then back it up with who and when and in which act. How about we start realizing that we can't keep doing what we are doing, putting all things in the hands of govt who does something because somebody has to do something with no prior knowledge or understanding of the matter at hand and expect our situation to improve. A passionate portion of the country wants us to hand over our country to a govt that thinks that laying blame is the same as solving the problem. Like I told my doctor, "I do not consider an autopsy to be part of the diagnostic process.

So you are saying we should have only one voice in America that being Obama.

Nobody should disagree or exercise their Free Speech rights?

I think talk like yours does more damage than Fox and Rush will ever have done.

All they have done is express another point of view.

Obama promise transparency and has close door meetings.

Obama no more politics as usual and he makes sweet heart deals left and right.

Obama said no one on the right has offer suggestion well guess what Huckabee had a whole show of people with ideas to control the oil spill and what did CNN offer? Going back to the Atlanta murders that happen in the early 80s.

I suggest before you go after the right look in the mirror and see what you are doing to add to the hate first.

hi baby green. you are getting the types of answers i would expect. sorry. i didnt really expect that those on the right would have an instant moment of clarity though. no one will admit it but when mccain told the woman in the town hall that obama was actually a citizen an not muslim i think you had a brief attack of conscious. what is unsaid is that a short time before his answer there was a guy that commited suicide an kiiled his family. no one will connect the dots . but is it hard to believe some deranged racist might consider a black president as the end of the world an go nuts? i dont think so but i grew up in some racist areas. i think the far right talking heads like rush are profiting for misinformation , slander or hate speech . depends on your interpretation. i think its hilarious that people want proof of bias. the openminded already see it. the close minded dont want to. there are plenty of examples an even movies of bias . if you need proof at this stage you have some serious cognitive dissonance. just stick fingers in your ears an make the lalala sound.

it somewhat is not lots as mendacity as finding out on irrelevant angles, spinning what human beings say in a detrimental way, or including pictures to thoughts that's irrelevant. I studied this in my undergard. One tale my prof confirmed me from Fox became of a protest. The protest became in summer time in a particular section. as a manner to make it appear like extra human beings have been there they spliced in pictures from a prior protest from the autumn in the past... How ought to you tell? there have been no leaves on the timber in the extremely some photos. the different element is that Fox information would not cover their Republican favortism. they are extremely biased against the Democrats, I undertaking you to find a clip that shows Obama in a favorable gentle, then learn that to Romney clips... you will see.

I don't think you'd know a lie if you saw it. Democrats now in office,

including Obama, are the ones telling the lies. You need to turn in

Fox and Rush and hear the truth as they are pro-America and don't

want this country sliding down the slope to where other countries are.

Yes, we need to pull togther but only if those we pull for are for the

betterment of America. How can good Americans vote for Mr.

Greene when he is a felon? This is crazy. I wouldn't have voted for

him if he'd run as a Republican, but Democrats don't seem to care.

Some suggested it was because his name was listed first on the

ballot...........what sane person votes because one name is listed

first alphabetically? We need to start listening to Rush before our

country as we've always known it, doesn't exist anymore. We sure

don't want to become like Iraq, Iran, Syria, and Cuba with thugs

running our government.

Yes, it already has. Fox fills the heads of it's gullible naive narrow minded people with lying propaganda, and they take it to their family and friends and fill their heads with it, and it just goes on and on and on and on and on. They riled up the "birthers", and even condone the "birther" BS. Have you ever seen this type of thing happen to any other White President in your life? So what does that tell you? The picture is as clear as a sunny day. And it's blatantly obvious. Fox is extremely deceptive, and they're proud of it too.

My opinion is you are nuts basically.

Did you miss the vituperation of the left wing media, by which I mean every TV network other than Fox and every major U.S. newspaper except the Wall Street Journal, during the 8 years of Bush? The hate was palpable.

I would love to see your links about Fox news watchers killing more and committing suicide more. I would bet that you would find Fox news watchers more settled and better adjusted than most people and happier to boot. I also bet that if you looked at the killers in this country you would find a disproportionate number of Democrats.

I hear more lies from Obama and the government daily than I have the past year from "Faux News" as you fiberals like to call it. Wake up and smell the coffee dumbell. It is you who is being misled. Not the center right, who represents the majority let me remind you. Why don't you ***** about the other 12 networks that spout leftist ******** on the other side? CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, PBS, NY Times, LA Times, Politico, Reuters vs. Fox News. Who should really be bitching?

The USA is lead by a bunch of high stake rollers, who own networks, oil companies, law firms, politicians, churches, wall street and others. They can manipulate stocks, bonds, the masses at will. FOX, owned by Murdoch, one of the most influential right wing nuts, is one of them. Washington is nothing but window dressing for a corrupt society, don't expect anything from there.
Lee B
2010-06-13 10:04:52 UTC
Wow. You make accusations with no citation ("killing people and committing suicide"... quite the bold claim with no substantiating evidence) with the intention of scaring the "sh#t" out of anyone who would bother to heed your warning. With my liberal friends, the problem with FOX (or any voice that challenges the "right" people... i.e., them and anyone who believes generally as they might) is that not all media is yet another tiresome leftist echo chamber. Yep. Some of it is gonna be right leaning, but the key is find balance. Rush Limbaugh is a partisan turd... should be ignored but certainly not "silenced." Do you not see the hypocrisy in your stance? No one can have a stance counter to yours? Anyone who disagrees with you is dangerous? How mature.

This question reveals a drive to control information and, thus, thought. It's not your job or the govt.'s to decide what is the truth. You gotta filter BS from both sides. You just want one side: Your side. I will never understand the "progressive" claim to supporting free speech and rights that matter (the only "rights" that seem to matter are those that are self-indulgent... say, like the "right" to wear baggy pants).

What are your thoughts on burning books?

What is driving true Americans crazy is watching the left destroy their country with top down government policies designed to bankrupt a once great nation. Obama is an incompetent boob who is a sock puppet to a much bigger agenda, run by communists and those who hate America, her freedom, her free markets and her strength...they intend to undo all of it and make Americans slaves to high taxes, drones to their government, who will have to beg to the elite at the top for every crumb they get...thanks libs...for all your bleeding hearts...you too will be servants to a MONSTER MASTER.

First, Have you actually ever watched Fox news or do you just generally bash them because the liberals say so. Fox almost always give both sides of the story by having guests who support both the left and the right. The only times they don't give both sides of the story is when the liberal guest will not appear.

Second, Glenn beck is a libertarian... look it up.

Third, Rush is a far righty and I occasionally listen. Rush needs to tone down the rhetoric and be more open to different opinions.

Fourth, Hannity is a conservative but even on his show he has liberal guests.

Finally, I challenge you to open up and try to explore different views and opinions.

Fox is not "news", and their slander and lies are NOT first amendment protected free speech.

You can't yell "fire" in a theater, that's illegal, and what they are doing is far worse, since its express purpose is to enrage and lie to Americans and cause unrest.

Where are you getting these claims of murder and suicide? Sounds to me like you are the one spreading lies and fear. Look around a little. There is some serious stuff going on in the world. Closing your eyes and wishing isn't going to make it better. And neither is attacking those who are trying to prepare for it.

I honestly think that people believe what they want to believe. People like what they hear because they already posit it and the only thing the vitriol does is strengthen the beliefs and make people more self righteous and indignant.

I believe, most people understand it's untrue but it explains and reinforces a phony basis for their own weaknesses and failures and their inability to compete and win.

The problem I think is that we've gotten into a postmodern world where everyone has an equal access to the facts. So the whole idea of fact and lies has become very wishy-washy. The Conservatives wholy believe that the truth is whatever they can convince people about. I fully suspect most people could not actually tell the truth from lies today, as a result of Conservative pundits.

What we need is some independent media to actually step up and not fall for the nonsense. Arizona passes regressive immigration laws, Glenn Beck says it is because Phoenix is the #2 city in kidnappings in the world. This then gets repeated by a thousand people. But none of them actually investigate to find that the statistic isn't even collected. No one compares kidnappings by city. So there is no magical list. But no one even thinks to fact-check this, they just accept it as truth because someone said it on TV. (Oh and for all of you asking for someone to catch them in an actual lie: there you go. Glenn Beck lied about Phoenix being #2 in kidnappings. The comparison doesn't even exist to make that claim).

Are they driving us crazy? Nope, they are driivng us stupid.

The fact is that, in spite of what they say, FOX does not have the majority of viewers.

They have more viewers than any ONE of the competitors but, if you combine all the competitors together, FOX loses.

The rest of the media constitutes the Barry 0'bama official ministry of information.

No, but Obama does with his reconfiguring the truth. Can't call him a liar, because that is disrespectful to the office & not PC. I just acknowledge he is a serial reconfigurer of the truth.

BTW he has no respect for the selflessness of the Military.

Edit:

Obama's offer to be bipartisan in reality means you will ALL agree with Obama. He & the left say or at lease imply conservatives' values are immoral. Most of the time conservatives don't say the same about liberals - they say the ideas are stupid, half thought out, & don't look at unintended consequences.

Yes. Say what they want about "liberal media," but at least liberal media relies on fact. Dan Rather reports false information that someone else made up, and he gets fired and becomes a media pariah. Glenn Beck builds a career on inventing false information, and he gets a daily 1-hour show to promote his conspiracy theories. That's why Fox News' claim of "fair and balanced" is so laughable. Liberal media personalities are tarred and feathered if they don't stick to the facts. Conservative media personalities are rewarded for making up the most imaginative condemnations of liberals that they can think of.

The problem isn't with people reporting the truth, it's the people who are giving them something to talk about that you should focus on. Obama promised to bring our troops home, they are still there and even more than before. Obama has gotten us into such debt that there is nothing to invest in, we're investing in China and helping them build up their communist army. Obama seems to think spending gets one out of debt. The man has no knowledge of how the economy works and neither does 93% of his administration.

No, it's the far-left, radical communists that hate this country for what it stands for and are out to transform it. Both the Right and the Left are dangerous. The Cons are closer to a workable national model but pollute it with politics and sell it with fear, while the Libs sell intangible things (such as hope and social justice) that are great on a personal/local level but unsustainable on a national scale.
