I live in a rural/regional electorate, so the choice here is usually between Nationals or Independent. We do have a candidate for the Greens here as well, and usually they side with Labor on many issues. Even if Labor did stand a candidate here, they would have NO chance of being elected - so they don't even bother anymore!
I imagine I would vote for the Nationals candidate as they have always been against the ETS (even when the Liberal party were considering supporting it under Malcolm Turnbulls leadership). I also support the theory of coalition policies including a full six months paid maternity leave and I look forward to seeing Tony Abbott's health debate with Kevin Rudd next Tuesday.
I think the Senate ballot is always interesting too, I have no idea who to vote for there - but if I have time, I often like to number the thousand boxes below the line.

Well if I was Australian I would vote Green and give my preferences to Labor.
@NeoStrider; In Australia the Liberal Party is right-wing (similar to Canada's Conservative Party) and the Labor Party is less conservative (similar to the Liberal Party of Canada).
@armouror; it's Labor not Labour.
@armouror; I am aware that in Australia and the UK labor is spelt labour. However in the instance of the Australian Labor Party, the word labor is spelt without the u. This is because in 1912 the u was dropped from the word labor as the party was influenced by the US labor movement.A prominent figure in the early history of the party, American born King O'Malley, was successful in having the spelling "modernized". I wasn't correcting your spelling in an attempt to be some sort of 'spelling Nazi', I was just repaying the favor as a certain conservative Australian brought to my attention a word I had misspelt in an earlier question I had asked. Anyway, as an ex serviceman it's little wonder Labor has never done anything for you.

EDIT: Just a note to people in the US.... the Liberal Party is our conservative party..... (just to confuse you) .
I thought I had convinced my parents to vote for the Liberal party when Dr Hewson was the leader... LOL i don't think they did.
I CAN NOT vote for Tony Abbott. Had Joe Hockey or even Malcolm Turnbull remained at the helm .. i MIGHT have been able to consider it....
I think I might vote Green this time around....

The newly registered Australian Sex Party will get a welcome vote from me.
As with any party I don't support all their policies, but I do support many of their policies regarding censorship (especially re the internet ISP filtering, which is a joke), a national sex education curriculum, total equal rights for LGBT's, the sexual rights and freedoms of the disabled and elderly, enquiries into child sex abuse in religious institutions, developing a global approach to crack down on child porn producers, pregnancy termination laws... and ending the tax exempt status of religious organisations.
They're good value to keep the interfering morality prudes in Parliament on their toes. Enough of the behind the scenes handshakes with religious leaders.

in all likelihood Liberal, for the 1st time in my existence. i won't help Kevin Rudd and his ineffective Emissions procuring and advertising Scheme or (such as you stated) the internet censorship difficulty the two.
