The Economic Elite have escalated their attack on U.S. workers over the past few years; however, this attack began to build intensity in the 1970s. In 1970, CEOs made $25 for every $1 the average worker made. Due to technological advancements, production and profit levels exploded from 1970 - 2000. With the lion's share of increased profits going to the CEO's, this pay ratio dramatically rose to $90 for CEOs to $1 for the average worker.

As ridiculous as that seems, an in-depth study in 2004 on the explosion of CEO pay revealed that, including stock options and other benefits, CEO pay is more accurately $500 to $1.

, "From 1980 to 2006 the richest 1% of America tripled their after-tax percentage of our nation's total income, while the bottom 90% have seen their share drop over 20%." Robert Freeman added, "Between 2002 and 2006, it was even worse: an astounding three-quarters of all the economy's growth was captured by the top 1%."

Due to this, the United States already had the highest inequality of wealth in the industrialized world prior to the financial crisis. Since the crisis, which has hit the average worker much harder than CEOs, the gap between the top one percent and the remaining 99% of the US population has grown to a record high. The economic top one percent of the population now owns over 70% of all financial assets, an all time record.

As mentioned before, just look at the first full year of the crisis when workers lost an average of 25 percent off their 401k. During the same time period, the wealth of the 400 richest Americans increased by $30 billion, bringing their total combined wealth to $1.57 trillion, which is more than the combined net worth of 50% of the US population. Just to make this point clear, 400 people have more wealth than 155 million people combined.”

About 1981, Reagan decided to launch an all out attack on the less than rich. The rich got to keep all their money and the working class carried the weight of the nation. It's been like that ever since.

Obama wants to make it fair again, not rob the rich of their wealth. Although that'd be fine with me. They been screwing us for 30 years.

Did it ever occur to you that I don't want to be part of the "elite"? That I am into more gratifying things than money. Are you saying you have to be rich to survive today? That's a bunch of crap, I just want to enjoy life and pay my bills but the "elite" constantly bombard us with new methods of getting blood from a stone. I can see it now hob knobbing with all the "people" who think they are better because having more than your neighbor makes you a better person. I find that contrary to reality. Bunch of guys who can only get a woman in bed with them because they make a six figure income. And the women are just whores too.

Let me see if I understand this. We should not go to school and work hard to become successful and make it to the tops of our fields. We should just be happy to have the Government tell us how much we can make. So if you were able to become one of the four hundred your righteous indignation would not allow it. This is America. We are still allowed to be successful. Cheer up by 2020 we will be 20 trillion in debt and our economy will most likely be collapsed by then. That top one percent pays 60 percent of the tax. So lets take their wealth away and we will all make up for the taxes the government looses.

A poster above says Obama will "make it fair again" What does he mean "fair" The Government will take care of him. Life is not supposed to be fair. Work makes life fair not taking from those that work to give to those that won't.

yes, I've been gnashing my teeth for years about the CEO salary-to-worker salary ration. It's insane, it's indefensible.

I'd like to repost this last sentence of yours:

"400 people have more wealth than 155 million people combined.”

Honey, I'm here to tell you - if EVER there was cause for "revolution" that would be it.

You are correct but still you will hear many complain about the union workers just trying to get a decent living and their share of the pie.

Maybe we can convince the militias that the CEOs are the real New World Order and kill two birds with one stone.

It's Reagan's market deregulation that allowed them to go crazy. $25 to $500? Sounds like Reagan's version of capitalism at work.

You are right . As the Bible says they have feet of clay ( clay is symbolized by the every day working people ) . And because they could care less about the very people who support them one day they will topple and fall.

Just because you are one of life's losers doesn't mean you should hate those that have made it. Besides, as a liberal why do you care about money? The gov't will take care of you. That's why you voted for Obama.

There's absolutely nothing stopping you from becoming one of the "Elite", except for your lack of intestinal fortitude, burning desire, perseverance and "elbow grease". So my advice to you is get to work and make it happen instead of whining because somebody has more than you do..
