Although I don't think that Charlie (another Dem tax evader) Rengle represents what the majority of Democrats want - I do think it's interesting that Democrats always accuse Republicans of wanting to reinstate the draft....yet only Democrats have made initiatives like this in recent history.

It's just Rangel again. But really why not bring back the draft. Since the Military is so predominately Republican it might be nice to get a few more democrats into a uniform. Those that didn't take off running that is.

I think the draft is fairer than stop-lossing military personnel who have already served, already fought, and have already been injured by breaking their contracts! That is nothing more than a back-door draft of those who have already served!

I thought you guys were pro-American and pro-war...that is until you are drafted and have to find out, like many in Vietnam did, what war is really like, rather than much of the pro-war rhetoric from those who haven't a clue what it is! The same ones who were cutting the VA Hospitals by $10 BILLION 3 years into Iraq!

If you are an American, what is your issue with serving it. You want others to do the sacrificing while you get the benefits. Do Conservatives think they should contribute nothing? Or are they just plain afraid?

Many who died in Vietnam were drafted and many who happen to survive came home to a country they did not recognize. Ones that blamed the people doing the dieing for the war that was another one started with lies by a president!

They should have brought back the draft long ago! If they had of this "war" would have long been over!

while i do no longer trust your motives and good judgment, i wouldn't in any respect enable myself or everyone in my kinfolk to be drafted. the sole reason i could ever combat in a warfare is that if I felt an forthcoming danger to myself, my kinfolk or my us of a. i'm the sole individual which could make myself kill everyone else and that i'm the guy that has to stay with that effect. No government ought to ever stress me to commit the act of killing.

Why on earth would they think of the draft being revived? They barely support the men and women who have already willingly joined our military as it is. They hardly support the military!

Honorable and Rangel in the same sentence in a contradiction in itself.

Rangel is a race baiter and a worthless piece of flesh.

But that is just my opinion.

The draft is the only way to make sure that the burden of our wars doesn't fall solely on the poor and minorities. The Republicans are delighted that there is no draft because, if there were one, there would have been millions in the streets and on college campuses protesting the war.

If you have such a problem with it why don't you move to another country. If our incredibly smart president hadn't gotten us involved in a endless war maybe they wouldn't even have to consider bringing the draft back.

Look at History, and the Draft is almost always a Democrat thing.I guess it's because they think of us as this "collective". It's their Communist leanings, they simply think of people as tools to be used at will, not individuals that should be able to choose to serve the Country.

A good idea. America wouldn't be in such a rush to go to war, if they were putting their own life on the line, or their kids.

America is isolated from the pain of war. Even the government doesn't want to show the bodies coming home, in case it puts you off war

The reason they want a draft is that its less expensive than an all volunteer military. You don't have to pay a draftee as much.

Well we should be putting an end to a nonsense war here soon so there will be things that are actually worthwhile to send the draftees to.

Yes. The Draft is the first step towards ending illegitimate wars.

Angel of Death, actually a draft is one of the oldest ways of conscription there is, so its a "conservative" trait. A Progressive trait would be an all volunteer military, its a relatively new concept...

Its neither lib/con, I just like poking holes in stupid answers.

Yes, because I'm tired of so many loud-mouthed conservative republicans guys saying they "support the war in iraq" and not enlisting. I'd love seeing the government send them to fight in a war.
