In the long term, things might not seem as bad as they are right now for Bush's image.

What do you think?

First would be the Iraq war which is now will be the longest in US history. Second would be the deficit. And third would be the recession. The only thing I could think was positive was the 911 attacks but he failed so badly after that by the Iraq war it will make his 8 years look like a big mistake.

I don't believe that history will be kind to George W. Bush. Here is a short list which highlights the incompetence of his Administration:

1. Making the biggest strategic blunder in the history of the United States, even more insane than the Viet Nam war, the never-ending debacle in Iraq. The war destabilized the entire region, displaced 4.5 million Iraqis, killed and maimed thousands of Iraqis and killed 4,000 of our troops while maiming 30,000 more and the only real thing that was achieved was to increase the power of Iran in the region and ensure that Iraq would now become a close ally of Iran and most likely its puppet. Incompetence in war planning and while lying to the American citizenry and the world about the need for an immediate, pre-emptive war. This move by Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and Rice will haunt them for eternity.

2. Achieved a complete reversal of the financial well-being of the country, moving it from budget surpluses to record deficits, largely thru passing tax cuts that helped only the wealthiest Americans and screwed everyone else, doling out pork to politically connected benefactors, etc. The consequential devaluation of the dollar and the resulting inflation in basic needs such as food and energy costs will erode the standard of living in the nation for years to come.

3. An assault on basic civil liberties and the checks and balances of our constitutional government. By amassing unheard of power in the Executive Branch, **** Cheney and David Addington and George Bush have sidestepped the very laws that has made our nation a great democratic republic and turned it down the path of unchecked Executive power.

4. Dithering and dallying while environmental problems mounted and allowing regulated industries to write legislation and regulations, thereby taking the teeth out of governmental regulation of pollution and environmental quality.

5. Politicization of Executive branch agencies, even to the extent of using governmental employees and contracts to further political objectives. Institutionalized incompetence exemplified by the Katrina fiasco.

For the dude below: In 2003, Iran offered comprehensive negotiations of ALL issues between the USA, Iran and Israel. The Bush Administration IGNORED the overtures. Defense Secretary Robert Gates in yesterday's Washington Post said that it was a missed opportunity and that we should have been talking to Iran. LOL! get the blinders off. Iran is holding all the cards now thanks to the idiotic invasion and occupation of Iraq.

Yes, the AIDS efforts in Africa have been a good thing and I will give him credit there. The rest of your list is inconsequential compared to the incredible incompetence in the most important matters facing the country.

The "long term" has already happened. 43 has had the US 'at war' with a helpless country for more than 5 years - longer than any other conflict - end of story !!

He has NO legacy, except to be indicted for war crimes along with Cheney. He's a proven liar(et al in his admin.) and responsible for the deaths of over 4000 men and women and countless thousands of wounded for no reason whatsoever.

Nixon had 'Watergate' - Reagan had 'Iran-Contra(gate)' - Bush has 'Iraq(gate)' - all serious felonies that were swept under the rug or someone 'fell on their sword' for the president in power(all republicans) - Bill Clinton gets impeached for marital improprieties(absurd).

EDIT: 'colleen..' should get 50,000 points for her answer and it should be sent to every American who lives and breathes. It is a testament of truths put concisely and rightfully to the point of the question asked.

I think, in the long run, his legacy will depend a lot on the final resolution of the Iraq war. No matter the outcome of that mess, he will be remember by true conservatives as the Republican President who destroyed all the long-time ideologies of the conservative movement in America. ie ;: fiscal irresponsibility, a record-breaking foreign trade deficit, abandonment of our principles against unilateral intervention, or invasion, of another sovereign state. In addition to these sins, he has alienated all of our traditional allies, ruined our International reputation by allowing torture of terrorist, (and even the odd Canadian, or American citizen).

The previous record-holder as our worst president, Richard Nixon, has sorta been absolved of his guilt, and is now known for opening relations with Red China, a legacy that Nixon never imagined would end up with them, (Chinese), owning us !

I feel sorry for George H.W. Bush, because his idiot son has defamed him, and destroyed his legacy as a Great Man who spent his life in service to his nation.

1) In line with his father's speech, he orchestrated 9/11 on American people and the people of the world, killing 3,000 Americans. He used this excuse to wage a war against Taleban Govt., which he himself supported with cash, in order to control the heroin trade of Afghanistan and also to work on the Caspian sea oil project. He allowed deadly terrorists like OBL to escape to safe havens by out-sourcing the job.

2) To take revenge, he sexed up intelligence reports to prove that Saddam Hussain was about to develop WMD, told lies after lies to UN and went for a war against Iraq without obtaining sanction of either UNSC or the Congress. This was an illegal war and had resulted in the death of over 1 Million Iraqis and destruction of the entire property, roads, buildings and bridges. He brought in Halliburton and Blackwater as the contractors. A Trillion Dollars of US money was spent on this project that bleeds US by 12 million dollars every minute.

3) He brought greatest economic misery to Americans. Brand America suffered its greatest loss under his terrible administration.

4) He shamelessly promoted jewish interests in America and abroad.

5) Sensing that his time is up and that war crimes charges are about to be levelled against him from which he would not be able to come out, he searched for a safe heaven on the earth from where he would not be extradited. Paraguay is that country which does not have any extradition treaty with any country. Paraguay is the place where world's criminals spend their residual life after their criminal life. It is here that he purchased 100,000 acres of land to finally settle down. But as Communists took over Paraguay, his choice to escape prosecution is NIL.

He would go down in history as the only US President to have been jailed.

If there is Satan, it is this ! It is George Walker Bush !

9/11 Twin Tower Collapse and the 2008 Collapse of U.S. Economy.

Is Bush a Saudi appearser like a Nazi appeaser?

“An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile hoping it will eat him last.”

Saudis unwillingness to increase oil output to relieve U.S. gas crunch.

The Saudi strike on 9/11 at the twin towers. The lies about WMD. The Saudi request for U.S. to tame a roaring lion (Sadam Hussein) on their border. Led Americans into war in Afghanistan and Iraq. We are spending $Trilllions$ and the lives of American soldiers for so called friends who can't help US in times of our need!

All these happened between 2001 and 2008. Who is the president at the white house ?

Who can be likened to NAZI appeasers? F@#$#$ Bushco!

Who is War profiteering at the expense of millions of lives and economic ruins of countries? F@#$#$ Bushco!

Bush has done more to eliminate nuclear weapons than any president in history.

While Bush was president, the treaties he has negotiated, have reduced the worlds nuclear weapons arsenal by

Over 81%.

From the 12,000 warheads the US and Russia each had in 2001, down to 2,200 warheads each by 2012.

The US has already reached the goal of 2,200 warheads and Russia is ahead of schedule to reach the goal.

Makes ya wonder why the media never mention that, huh ?

..................................................................................

Not to mention while Bush was president,

Israel for the first time EVER , dismantled settlements in palestinian areas.

That Israel completely withdrew from Gaza.

................................................................................................

That ther US has the best relations with North Korea it has ever had, with the NK media actually praising the US.

.........................................................................................................

That the US established diplomatic contact and exchanges with Iran for the first time since 1979.

( for the Obama lovers, diplomatic contacts and exchanges, is a far cry from the President meeting with thier head of State.)

.............................................................................................

Bush has done alot of good Internationaly, all you have to do is look.

But the Bush Derangement Syndrom prevents many from seeing good in anything Bush has done.

They even critise Bush's Aid's policy in Africa, that the Africans are praising Bush for.

Right, that's exactly what I think. I don't think he'll come out to be the greatest President, but I think he come out to have done a pretty good job despite the criticism and the pathological hatred.
