Question:
Do any of you remember the days when Journalists were ACTUALLY Journalists, instead of Liberal Mouthpieces?

The Drudge Report was the first to announce the latest step in the fascist/socialist march to dictatorship in the United States. To guarantee that there is no “debate” on the government’s plan to impose mandatory health care “reform” on the nation, President Barack Obama has made a deal with ABC News to conduct a phony prime time “town hall” style meeting from the Blue Room of the White House on June 24. The sanctimonious and overly chummy anchor Charles Gibson will host “World News” from that precious vantage point. He will welcome the nation to the to the first airing of the Obama Broadcasting Corporation.

Not even FDR was brazen enough to co-opt a broadcaster to shill for the New Deal.

Journalism is dead. Yes, I remember seeing people who reported fairly, and now only one network and very few newspapers are just telling the news.

Obama is upset with FOX because they tell the truth. He asked why they weren't on his side. Possibly because they tell the turth and do not support socialism or any of his economic borrow and spend policies.

I think the networks like ABC who will be broadcasting from the White House are in Obama's pocket. They are truly biased.

Interesting how the libs aren't answering; they just want to swipe at Fox news. The libs are probably mad at them too, for not being on Obama's side. How dare they?!

We all know that if Bush had made a deal with Fox news to have a town-hall style meeting in the blue room and no democrats were allowed in, the libs would be going f-n ape-s**t, screaming 'fascist, Hitler' and all the rest of their usual insults.

But to answer your question, no, I don't ever remember a time when the media wasn't liberal mouthpieces, at least not until Fox arrived.

Thanks for your blog link from the other day, you're pretty cool

This is nothing new. It has already been done by Bush.

During the election season of 2006, Bush had a meeting with various people from conservative talk radio. Rush was invited, but was unable to attend. The purpose of the meeting was to encourage their minions to get out and vote.

Also, "news reports" were (illegally) produced by the Bush White House, and distributed to the networks, allegedly as an independent news source. Of course, these videotaped reports supported Bush's policies.

Real unbiased journalism died in the late 60s early 70s when socialism started to take hold and the leftists born out of the hippy movement started to take over. Now all the mainstream media are outlets for the leftists socialist-marxists. 0bama himself spoke of a coalition of power that was required to implement his socialist plans for America. Control the House, Control the Senate, Control the White House and Control the media.

-edit- Please, micahel p in nj, the drudge report is nothing more than a link to other sources of information.

I remember how much objectivity was heralded as the number one virtue of a journalist and that if anything similar to an opinionated sentence showed up in a piece of submitted work it was sent back.

Excepting editorial pieces of course.

What happened to that? Objectivity is a dirty word on every news outlet these days.

I remember being taught by one...'old-time-reporter'...she insisted on the 5W's...regardless and made me take a course in shorthand because as she said. "you can't rely on those dang blasted recorders..."...but take the fool thing anyway...and lord help me if I gave an opinion or put words in someone's mouth.

Journalism has been framing arguments instead of reporting facts since the first printing press.

Yeah I remember. Should still be.

Sad days we're living in.

I thought liberals loved to "question authority".

Why are they now SPRINTING into an authoritarian state?

State-owned media? Liberals are supposed to be the opponents of things like this. Why are conservatives the new freedom fighters?

The Media is only interested in Profit . If it caters to Liberals then that is because more Liberals watch their program which means more profit for them . If more conservatives watched any thing much except Fox then the media would be more conservative and cater to conservative for a profit .

Let me get this straight: You're accusing journalists of being "liberal mouthpieces," and the first three words in your backup section are "The Drudge Report"?

Next, you're going to accuse Mark McGwire of using steroids, using Barry Bonds as an example of a player who didn't need them.

For crying out loud, even Jim Sock, who agrees with me on almost nothing, called you out!

Those days never existed.

Wait a minute ... yes, it's not fair network like Fox News can't attend ... but they brought that on themselves ...

Obama will talk seriously, he doesn't want to be bothered by unethical reporters calling him a terrorist or a muslim or a socialist ... That's exactly what Fox News does over and over again!!

I'm sure glad I have cable!
Don't Blame it on me
2009-06-18 10:59:15 UTC
I remember when they half way tried to conceal their bias.
2009-06-18 10:59:11 UTC
Most journalists are ethical, objective, and reputable reporters. There is no conspiracy to somehow make the news more 'liberal'.

You may be confusing objective reporting for liberal bias, as there is absolutely no objectivity in Fox News, and they are only a GOP propaganda machine.

Think about it. Do you really think that Faux is objective, and ALL the other news networks aren't?
2009-06-18 10:59:18 UTC
Did you forget that this is the issue he was elected on?

Democratic elections remember?

Healthcare reforms and transparency... just because they aren't what YOU want doesn't mean that the rest of us don't.
