Net Neutrality - sounds nice - the government wants to come in a regulate just a FEW big corporations who have wanted to put some controls on their OWN property. This is about wires much like a train company - the wires are the rails - when there is too much traffic on the rails the train company imposes restrictions to keep traffic moving and of course favor the trains they own over those they don't own. In that same way the traffic on the wires owned by Comcast and others have become overburden at times and they slowed down the connection of a few who were causing the majority of the traffic jam.
These few companies complained to the FCC and FCC told Comcast it can't slow down anyone and Comcast took it to court and WON - the court ruled the FCC has no legal authority over the internet. That these wires are the personal property of Comcast and they are free to do as they feel fit to do.
Now the FCC is saying it will declare the internet a UTILITY like the phone company.
Beyond this "treat everyone equal" on the internet despite the traffic being on private wires the FCC wants to impose a TAX on internet use to pay for internet for poor and rural areas MUCH LIKE THE PHONES.
Now go look at your phone bill - see all those "Fees" - those are taxes - taxes from Uncle Sam, the state, to local government and so on - That is what you will be seeing in short time if the FCC gets it's way.
SO MY QUESTION IS WHY DON'T MORE PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THAT NET NEUTRALITY IS ABOUT GETTING GOVERNMENT INTO THE INTERNET TO REGULATE AND TAX???
