Why Aren't You Tea Party Activists Against Outsourcing?

I'm a libertarian, not a tea party person but I hope that won't matter to you.

Outsourcing is just a form of free trade. Economics studies of free trade confirm that free trade creates jobs for both trade partners and that the jobs created are generally higher paying than the domestic alternative. This is true EVEN when there is a large disparity in standard of living.

Outsourcing actually PRESERVES US wealth and jobs. Imagine two companies that are identical in every way but one: Company A has outsourced it's tech support to India, and Company B has not. If Company B's tech support is of much higher quality than A, company B will be more productive and will have an advantage in the market. If they do not, the cost savings A acquired by outsourcing will give them an advantage. Thus protectionists claim that A's decision cost American jobs.

But in fact it's not true. Because there is also a company C out there that is FULLY international and is selling it's good in competition with A and B. If C can offer a lower price point and A and B cannot outsource, then A and B will wither and die.

A savvy protectionist might object and say I proved their point, that free trade should be disallowed. But not so fast. Because while protectionism can protect A and B from C, that protectionism will lead to trade retaliation and A and B will have a harder time than C gaining access to emerging markets. Thus C will grow faster. Also, we aren't factoring in the immense cost savings that consumers reap because they have access to C's cheaper goods or A's cheaper goods. This savings is real money in people's wallets that they can spend, invest, save, or whatever. That in turn further charges up the economy.

Protectionists need to understand that TECHNOLOGY has already made borders obsolete. Markets can reach one another cheaply now and laws that slow that down make everyone poorer.

Dig a little deeper there. The reason outsourcing exists to the alarming degree it does today, is due to over-regulation of domestic business/production. We punish our own businesses for operating on American soil. Therefore, the company has to decide - go out of business or outsource?

Look for this to be compounded should the health care bill reach the the limits of progressive intent.

We are bankrupting our own nation.

The Tea Party is against government regulation.

I think the tea party activists have good intentions, but they also need to pull away from the partisanship and address politicians equally from BOTH parties who aren't acting in the best interest of the U.S. citizens. My biggest problem with the tea party hasn't been their fiscal message, it's that they are too partisan, to the point of never addressing problems that the Republican party are responsible for, or policies that the GOP promotes and/or protects that harm us and job creation here in the U.S.

They NEED to now also work with the Democrats who are trying to fight outsourcing, and fight giving huge tax breaks and rewarding companies that send jobs overseas. There is no logical reason in the world why companies who keep jobs in this country shouldn't be rewarded with larger tax breaks than those who ship jobs overseas.

The more the tea party shows that they're serious about the message they want to appear to be sending to Washington, the more support they'll find themselves receiving from BOTH sides...republicans and democrats. I think the appearance of bias and partisanship is what gains them so much criticism, and makes those of us who normally might stand with them to not do so. Yes, it gives the rest of us the impression that they are "brainwashed" to promote a GOP agenda, rather than act in the best interest of the ENTIRE people of the U.S.

Let's see them be strong, and also send a message to the GOP that they are not patsy's...pawns to be USED by the GOP simply to "stick it" to democrats. Demand that the GOP also are expected to start acting in the best interest of the people, or they, too, will incur their wrath.

(sigh) The tea party addresses issues regarding spending, taxation and following the constitution, nothing else. Which one of those does your issue fall under?

Although, I do admit that as taxes go down outsourcing will become less profitable and will occur less often. Everybody should like that.

Companies do that to stay profitable. Without profits they go out of business. Outsourcing jobs creates wealth in foreign countries and allows them to afford things produced in the US.

Bingo.

Unfortunately, I do think the majority of people in the teabagging party aren't bad people, they're (rightly) upset and have no idea who is responsible for the mess we're all in. So they got sucked in to this movement which gave them easy answers, and are just pawns really, to distract from the real issues.

Meanwhile the real architects keep getting richer and rewriting the laws to suit them.

It would take government regulation in some form to stop or at least restrict/slow the outsourcing, and they're always ranting against it, so the movements are (intentionally) opposed. They can't tell you any different.

Don't be an ***. Keep the jobs here in the states. This is a no brainer.

Why do you not have a problem with Soros and HIS billions? Or the Clintons and theirs? Or Coons and his? Where do you think THEY make THEIR money?

For heaven's sake, use your brain.

Can you give me a link of either tea partiers or republicans saying they are in favor of outsourcing?

Thanks! I'll be waiting...

edit. What's that have to do with your original question? lol

We are against out sourcing.

The way to cure that is to let companies make a profit here at home.
