In any case, it's well-known to the Canadian health system that occasionally it makes sense to cross the border for treatment. Quite often, the Canadian government reimburses them for this. See if Cigna will reimburse you for a surgery that they don't cover. Good luck.

Canadians get private insurance similar to what our seniors call "Medigap" to cover things not covered (or under-covered) by their national system. As you might expect, it's far, FAR less expensive than what we pay the swine at CIGNA and Aetna.
